    Hello there,

I have been notified that galleries containing different image sizes display varying watermark sizes, depending on the image size. I understand that this is related to how watermarking is implemented within the plugin. Are there any plans to make a watermark engine which will have a more consistent size across all image sizes?

    Thanks.

Can you please provide some real examples of what you mean via a link perhaps to a couple of galleries?

    Password: [redacted]

Both photos are in the same gallery. You will see that the watermark is small in one image and big in the other, because images have not the same dimensions. This is because the watermarking is done in pixels. If possible, watermarking should be done in a percentage. 5% will always be 5% of the image, while 80px will be big for some pictures and small for others.

So instead of offering watermarking in pixels, offer it in a percentage. Take the percentage, convert it to pixels for each image and watermark size will be approximately the same for all images, regardless of their size.

    Thanks.

If possible, please erase the password when you get in.

    Thanks

    Ok thanks for the info.

We will investigate further to see how we can improve this.

    Hi acicovic,

I think I have come up with a very good, robust yet reasonably simple algorithm which will ensure that font text always appears proportional no matter what the original image size is.

Can you please tell me what your email address is so I can send you an updated version of the plugin for you to try/test?

    [email addr redacted]

I will probably not be able to answer quickly though, as I will be out of base for a few days.

    Thank you.

I have sent you an email with a zip file.

To test this all you have to do is edit one of your galleries and change the font size of the watermark to another value so that the plugin is forced to recreate the watermarked image.

The settings are the same as before but the watermark function now has some smarts built into it to ensure that the font size is adjusted proportionally according to the size of the photo.

Hi Peter – I discovered that I also have a problem with my watermark now. After installing the fresh copy of Photoseller, I created a new gallery. In the new gallery I am using the same watermark settings and same font size as I did in the old galleries, but in this new gallery the watermark appears much bigger. Even though it is bigger, it would be okay for my landscape images, but in my portrait images the watermark text is so big that the beginning and the end of my watermark gets cut off. I tried using smaller font but didn’t fix the problem on the portrait images. It seemed to make watermark an inconsistent size throughout the gallery. I tried making changes to the other watermark settings without success. I also tried deleting the gallery, resetting the watermark setting to my standard settings, clearing caches, and recreating the gallery. No luck. I checked older galleries that I created before I loaded the fresh copy of Photoseller and the watermarks on the old galleries seem to be fine. Here is a link to my new gallery #176. [http://www.deltasportsmagazine.com/photoalbums/gallery176/] The first six photos are landscape and the watermark is too big. The seventh, eighth, ninth pics are portrait and the watermark gets cut off. As I mentioned, reducing the font size in the settings didn’t fix the problem. Here is a link to an old gallery with the same watermark settings [http://www.deltasportsmagazine.com/gallery163/] The first pic is landscape and the second pic is portrait. The watermark looks fine in the old gallery #163. Thanks in advance…

Can you try setting the “Watermark Font Size” to 20 and then save the gallery and when you’ve done that let me know so I can see the page again.

(Make sure to use the “Click to check status” link to ensure that the background watermarking tasks are completed successfully)

Done. I changed the font on the new gallery from my standard size of 40 to 20. The watermark looks a little too small but it is acceptable. I’m not sure why it seems to be okay now. I tried changing the font size to 20 earlier and it was way too small for the landscape pics but on the portrait pics it was still way too big. I have witnesses who will testify that the watermark was crazy (not I). :). Okay–I would prefer to have the font a little bigger like it is on my old galleries but I could live with the smaller size as long as it’s consistent.

I tried enlarging the watermark font to 30–too big. Tried 25–looks good. Font size 25 in the new gallery looks the same as font size 40 in the old galleries. Could you please delete my URL links from this forum? Thanks!

Has this feature been implemented? I can not get my watermark to look correct on all uploaded images. I am wanting to have my watermark set by percentage.
