Hi, I use bbpress and I tried to use WP Lightbox Ultimate to place a picture in a topic and it didn’t work. Does WP Lightbox Ultimate work in a bbpress forum?
bbpress Version 2.5.2
WP Lightbox Ultimate Version 2.0.8
‘[wp_lightbox_prettyPhoto_image link=”http://www.aquariumcarebasics.com/aquarium-pictures/albino-tiger-oscar.jpg” img class=”alignleft size-thumbnail wp-image-812″ description=”These Albino Tiger Oscars will grow quickly and need to be moved to a larger tank.” source=”http://www.aquariumcarebasics.com/aquarium-pictures/albino-tiger-oscar-230×130.jpg” img_attributes=’width=”230″ height=”130″‘ title=”Three Albino Tiger Oscars Waiting For Their Next Meal”]’
Let me know, Thanks!!January 12, 2014 at 8:00 pm #60234
Hey all, just wanted to note that I sorted this out another way, so no need to keep the topic open. Great plugin, btw.January 13, 2014 at 12:36 am #60235
Thanks. Do you mind sharing the tweak in case anyone wants to apply it with bbPress?January 16, 2014 at 5:18 am #60236
Sure…sadly I was not able to go with WP Lightbox Ultimate on bbpress as it did not seem to work (WP Lightbox Ultimate is one of my favorite plugins, btw…maybe someday it will work with bbpress. When it does, I will swap all of my images).
So there are no fancy windows that pop up, but at least I have an image in each topic. And there are good free plugins that to help with attachments in bbpress.
I’m using Twentytwelve, and I calculated that the direct embed method worked with the image being cut in Photoshop specifically to 471 x 265, and I just inserted them into the topic or reply. Its important to keep the images cut to the right dimensions so as to not serve scaled images and mess up the Google PageSpeed score.
My site is 99% on Gtmetrix. It took me a while to get there, and I protect that score like gold. My site loads as follows:
Page load time: 1.46s
Total page size: 1.33MB
Total number of requests: 32
One of the reasons I like WP Lightbox Ultimate for images in pages and posts is that it lets me set the width and height attributes to the placeholder picture so my site does not serve scaled images.
Thanks again for help this board has given me through the years.

Hi, you can also pop up any image on your site without using a shortcode:January 17, 2014 at 3:22 pm #60238
Hey thanks! I didn’t think of this. I just swapped an image in a bbpress topic using this method and it worked perfectly. Thanks a million!August 27, 2014 at 10:28 am #60239ozfaderMember
This works fine for admin, but what about other participants? Is there a way to allow everybody’s uploaded images to pop-up and resize?
Thanks…August 28, 2014 at 12:27 am #60240
@ozfader, the only way to pop up any image (without using a shortcode) would be the tweak above (please see the link).November 14, 2014 at 1:00 am #60241
My pretty photo lightbox stopped working unexpectedly. It was working great then all of a sudden the iframe isn’t popping up for my external url.
Please help!November 14, 2014 at 1:42 am #60242
@Celeeib, Your site is running on WordPress 4.0 but your Lightbox Ultimate version is pretty old. please install a fresh copy of the plugin and see how it goes:November 14, 2014 at 5:09 pm #60243
I already updated the plugin to the latest version it is still not working.November 14, 2014 at 5:19 pm #60244
I think I figured it out. I had percentages for width. It only accepts pixels.
