I’m getting ready to create an affiliate program for my web site hosting service. However, I don’t want to offer an affiliate arrangement on all my products and services (e-books, tangible products, consulting, etc.)
How can I “turn off” affiliate benefits on all but a few specific products?
Thanks,
Matthew Wayne Selznick

April 27, 2012 at 5:27 am #44477PeterMemberHi Matthew,
Are you using the eStore plugin together with the Affiliate platform?
If so, you should be able to exclude the products for which you don’t wish to pay a commission for by specifying zero ‘0’ in the “Product Specific Commission” field of the product’s configuration.

May 26, 2012 at 4:23 am #44479daganrayMemberHi – I have the same issue – but I am using PayPal shopping cart – can I still only include some items to pay commission on – but not others?
May 26, 2012 at 11:17 pm #44480adminKeymasterNo, item specific commission requires you to use an eCommerce solution that can allow you to specify a commission rate for that item. This is only possible with the eStore plugin at this time. You have no way of doing that with a plain PayPal button.
February 13, 2013 at 11:27 pm #44481neeseeMemberI use Cartville as my shopping cart, when my year runs out I’ll move over to eStore.
I’ve just moved purchased the Affiliate programme, in the process of setting up my affiliate scheme and want to offer it on my ebooks and eProgrammes but not on my consultancy services.
I’ve got it set up that if people use the general affiliate link it goes through to my shop page – [http://www.amazingpeople.co.uk/shop.htm] and have also set up banners for each of my ebooks.
If someone then decides, for example, to book an hour of consultancy with me, would this result in my affiliate getting their fee. obviously I don’t want this to happen!
Reading the above I’m a bit concerned, but wasn’t sure given I use cartville, part of the 1shoppingcart family.
Thanks in advance
denise
February 13, 2013 at 11:59 pm #44482PeterMemberI’m not entirely sure what your concern is?
When you eventually move over to eStore – to exempt your “consultancy” product from paying a commission you simply need to enter zero ‘0’ in the “Product Specific Commission” field of that product’s configuration (as explained in an earlier response). That will make it so no affiliate commission will be given for the sale of that product.
February 14, 2013 at 5:50 am #44483neeseeMemberHi Peter,
my concern is what to do for now, I’m using cartville until December when it is up for renewal.
If I don’t use eStore can I exempt certain products or is everything included for affiliate commission payments?
February 15, 2013 at 2:42 am #44484adminKeymasterHi, You cannot do any kind of product specific commission settings unless you are using eStore. The product specific commission needs to be stored with the product. This is something we can do with eStore because it one of our other product so we can accommodate the changes necessary for this feature. An external/3rd party shopping cart usually doesn’t accommodate a feature for an affiliate software.
December 30, 2013 at 8:49 am #44485BedroomBondageMemberI use WooCommerce and would like to exclude products from the affiliate program. Since the last posts are 10 months old, have you looked into making this possible?
December 31, 2013 at 1:04 am #44486adminKeymasterYeah, you can do product specific commission for woocommerce too. You can find the addon here:
April 10, 2014 at 5:42 am #44487stanMemberWhat are the relevant details for setting specific product commission in woocommerce? I would like to do the same.
Thanks
April 10, 2014 at 6:39 am #44488adminKeymasterEdit the woocommerce product in question. Then there will be a field for specifying the commission level for that product (given you have installed the addon I sent to you). If you specify a commission value in the product then that one will be used rather than the one set in the affiliate’s profile.
April 10, 2014 at 2:44 pm #44489stanMemberThat sounds great. I am looking forward to it. It sounds very simple.
However, I did not receive an email from you with the addon. I checked the spam folder and everywhere else. Can you resend?
April 11, 2014 at 3:13 am #44490adminKeymasterI have sent it to you again.
