I have checked the Use Paypal Profile based shipping. I have mostly digital products but a few non-digital. Since the profile based shipping is a scale based on total sales it is still charges shipping for digital goods. What is the best way to fix this…site is [http://www.kerryskinner.com/store/]

You can set in your PayPal profile to allow eStore to override the profile based shipping so for particular item checkouts eStore can set the shipping to 0.
How to Allow Shipping Override in Your PayPal Profile
Here is a summary of how you can change your PayPal merchant account profile to allow profile based shipping override option:
Log into your PayPal account go to the following area:
Profile -> Selling Tools -> Shipping
Now, find the following field and set it to “Yes”.
—-
Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my calculator’s settings
Select whether the shipping rates can be overridden by individual transactions if the information is passed to PayPal with HTML variables in the transaction. Allowable values:
Yes
No

If you do not want to add shipping to some of your items (when using PayPal profile based shipping) please see the available workarounds explained below.
January 13, 2011 at 2:14 pm #27993jonahgirlMemberThe way to do that was add “shipping= 0.00” to an item when creating the button. I kept trying to figure out how this plugin could do this particular thing…no biggie..I will contact the client and ask him to let me set up shipping charges in eStore.
December 18, 2011 at 5:28 am #27994adminKeymasterPayPal profile shipping doesn’t distinguish between physical and digital items. Two possible workarounds for this:
Option 1
Specify an individual product shipping of zero (0) in the “Item Shipping Cost” field of the digital product. Given that all the items in the shopping cart are digital items then it should override the profile shipping cost to not charge shipping (eStore will send a shipping value of 0 to PayPal for this case).
Option 2
Use weight based profile shipping. This way you can place a weight of 0.01 lbs (as an example) for your digital products and your physical products will have more weight. Now if your profile based shipping has a bracket like the following then digital items won’t get shipping charge
0 – 0.5 lbs (do not charge shipping) – Your digital items will fall in this bracket
0.5 – 2 lbs (charger whatever)
2 – 4 lbs (charge whatever)

September 2, 2013 at 11:54 pm #27996riyanaParticipantOption 1 does not work for me. I am using Paypal profile based shipping and I have a digital product I’m trying to sell. I specified shipping of 0.00 for it. When the user hits Buy Now and enters their zip code, it still adds the shipping charge.
Go to: [http://www.sdi.org/webinars/]
Click Buy Now
You will be redirected to PayPal.
Enter zip
Click calculate
The shipping will be added.
I cannot use weight based shipping because I charge different amounts of shipping based on total price. I need a way that digital products will not be charged shipping. Currently, I am only selling physical products.

Find the following option in your PayPal merchant profile and set it to “Yes”.

Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my claculator’s settings

September 3, 2013 at 1:50 am #27998riyanaParticipantOn the PayPal Shipping Calculations page, I see the option: Use the shipping fee in the transaction instead of my calculator’s settings. I set that to yes, and it still added the shipping cost.
September 3, 2013 at 8:15 pm #27999riyanaParticipantI figured out a way to make it work. I switched to weight-based shipping, and made the weight for all the physical items equal to the price. This way, my shipping rate table still works.
October 9, 2015 at 4:24 pm #28000theshiftMemberI have this same problem and none of the solutions above work. I can’t use weight based shipping.
One website is all products that need be be shipped. (thetruth4today.com) Two others are coaching and classes and digital products no shipping. (theshift.com and PerceptionU.com)
I only checked use PayPal shipping on the product site, but shipping started to get shipping on everything else – and I had to keep refunding the shipping.
I tried everything and finally just took out the paypal shipping, but want to put it back in for the product site.
October 9, 2015 at 10:56 pm #28001adminKeymasterThat is a shortcoming of the PayPal profile based shipping. Your PayPal account has one shipping profile and all transactions for your account goes through that.
So instead of the PayPal profile based shipping, try the “Amount Based Shipping Addon” of eStore plugin (on the site where you need this shipping). See the 6th option from the following documentation:
October 9, 2015 at 11:15 pm #28002theshiftMemberSo are you saying that there is an add on – where do I find that?
October 9, 2015 at 11:34 pm #28003adminKeymasterYes, there is an addon that you can download. The link is right there. Click on the text that reads “Amount Based Shipping addon” which will take you to the details page of that addon.
October 9, 2015 at 11:38 pm #28004theshiftMemberduh .. okay – will give it a try – and will let you know! Thanks!
October 10, 2015 at 6:22 pm #28005theshiftMemberThank you – I have it installed. Next question.
There is this field:
Product ID#s which qualify for amount based shipping (separated by comma)
Do I have to fill this part in order for it to work OR is it automatic now that I have the prices set.
AND
What about shipping overseas? How do I accommodate that?
Thanks!
