Hi – wondering if it is possible for a person to use the save cart feature and then use the checkout without paying and have the cart ID # (not the transaction #) be added to the email that they are sent? My client wants his customers to add his services to the cart without paying and once he is done the job, have the ability to retrieve the cart and pay. But he wants them to have the cart ID # sent to them. He is confused about transaction id and cart id and keeps on putting the transaction id in the retrieve cart – with no luck!
-thanks for any suggestions! lisa
May 14, 2013 at 11:59 pm #55627adminKeymasterI am not very clear on the question but I will explain the difference between Cart ID and the transaction ID.
The cart ID is something you get when you save the cart. This ID can be used to retrieve the saved cart content. This cart ID value cannot be used for anything else.
A transaction ID is a unique number that the payment gateway issues. The transaction ID is used to uniquely identify a transaction. Think of transaction ID as a receipt ID.

May 15, 2013 at 2:30 pm #55628gemelliMemberHi – thanks for the response. My client has a cleaning service. He wants people to be able to order online and have the option to either pay now or pay later. I set that up with estore. But now he wants the option for people who haven’t paid to be able to (after having their cleaning service performed) retrieve the cart and pay. I have explained to him about the difference between about the cart id and transaction id. I know that the save cart feature works but my question is, i have it setup that an email goes to the customer after they check out using the pay later option and it contains the transaction id, but is there a way that it can also contain the cart id number as well so that they have a record (other than the brief pop-up of the cart id # they get when saved)?
My client keeps on putting in the transaction id number and getting an error and he is worried that all his customers will do the same thing.
One other question would be, is there a way for the client from his estore management area to take a saved cart and re-send to a customer so they could pay?
hope that it is more clear!! thanks
May 16, 2013 at 12:45 am #55629adminKeymasterSeems like you could use the 3rd option mentioned here which should be a better choice given your client’s scenario:
So enable manual checkout options. Customers who want to pay after the service is performed can use the manual checkout and the order will be in a “pending” state. After your client performs the cleaning service and gets paid, he can set the order status to “paid” and be done.
PS. Your client doesn’t have to worry about his customers entering the transaction ID. The reason is that the client doesn’t even have a transaction ID unless they make a payment. So when they come to the site and saves an order, the only thing they have is the “ID of the saved shopping cart”. There is only one thing they can do with it which is retrieve that saved cart.
May 16, 2013 at 4:11 pm #55630gemelliMemberthanks, i installed the plugin. My client needs a way for the customer to be able to access the cart again online and pay after the service. Although it does keep a list of unpaid customers which you can mark as paid, they still don’t have any way of getting back to their cart to do so. So, when I am in the order management area after i add an order which i have not paid for, i only receive that one email that has the order details and transaction id number – (that is the email my clients wants to contain a cart id). Let’s say he comes and cleans the carpet, then says to go online and pay – that is where the problem exists because if I neglected to save the cart, or if i forget to copy that cart id #, there is no way for me to check out. I am not sure if this is a do-able thing but is there a shortcode to add the cart id # to that email or is there a way to have this work? I appreciate all your help on this!
thanks,
Lisa
May 17, 2013 at 5:31 am #55631adminKeymasterHi Lisa, Lets go over the scenario of your client’s purchase process so I get a better idea. At the moment I am not sure why we need the cart ID after the transaction. The cart ID value is used to retrieve a cart BEFORE the transaction. It has not value as soon as a checkout is performed.
Are the customers doing the following at the moment or there is there something else happening?
1) A customer comes to the site
2) The customer adds item to the shopping cart
3) The customer then saves the cart (he/she gets a cart ID so this cart content can be retrieved later)
4) At a later date, the customer comes back to the site and use the cart ID to retrieve the shopping cart items (saved earlier)
5) The user checks out and makes the payment for the items.
May 17, 2013 at 1:32 pm #55632gemelliMemberthat’s exactly what the client wants for the customer. But i guess if this is the scenario, then the client doesn’t know that the customer has actually added a service to the cart and that is why he is having them checkout without paying. But then when my client has performed the service for them, he wants the customer to have the ability to just retrieve the cart and pay then. But for them to do this, they must have already saved the cart to be able to retrieve it and also have saved the cart id #. If there was a way to (if the customer saves the cart and checks out with pay later) have that cart id number appear in the pay later option email that is sent, then it would be more accessible for them to retrieve it. My client believes that most people will not see or forget to save the cart id # that appears when they click to save. Thanks for your patience and help on this, btw. You guys are great!
May 18, 2013 at 6:52 am #55633adminKeymasterI see what you mean. We can add a feature where it allows you to add the cart ID in the email that goes out to the buyer after the purchase.
May 20, 2013 at 1:22 pm #55634gemelliMemberthat’s wonderful – i really do appreciate it! any way i can let my client know approximately when it would be developed?
May 29, 2013 at 3:47 pm #55635gemelliMemberhi – checking in to see if this feature is possible to add to the email ….
May 30, 2013 at 7:07 am #55636adminKeymasterYou need this for manual checkout only correct?
July 1, 2013 at 11:13 pm #55637gemelliMembersorry – i didn’t see this – yes, i only need it for the manual checkout and i would absolutely love to have this option!
thanks again!
July 8, 2013 at 5:04 pm #55638gemelliMemberhi – don’t want to bug you – but i am unsure if you got this reply….
July 9, 2013 at 1:35 am #55639adminKeymasterHi, I wanted to add this as a feature to the plugin but then when I was investigating the code later, I realized that there are some road blocks. So I can’t add this option as a standard feature to the plugin. I can do a custom job for you and create an addon to handle your client’s scenario. Please fill out this form if you want that:
