Hi,
I have a launch at the end of next week with JV partners, I am currently setting up and testing the JV activity. In the general settings the sign up page URL is set as the detination page for partner traffic and cookies are set to 21 dayse
1) I set up a test affiliate, on both his activity page and my dashboard page he is already showing as having one click – why? no activity has happened yet?
2) I have sent out the sign up email that includes the affiliate id and clicked through to sign – can now see 4 clicks recorded
3) have sent out the sales letter to the same user, no affiliate ID was included in the mail as this is coming from me and not the JV – the cookie should already be set.
4) I click through the sales letter which takers me to a member info page with a buy now paypal button where I complete the transaction (this is on a separate domain to the sign up/sales letter pages).
5) activity is still showing 4 clicks and 0 sales
what am I doing wrong?
regards
Nick

May 31, 2012 at 9:12 am #45660alchemynickMemberHi,
The process is:
Email sent out containing a link with the affiliate tracking ID – the link I am using is: [http://alchemyracingsystems.co.uk/ra2012_earlybirds/?ap_id=testingaf]
Person signs up (which counts as one click) and presumably the cookie is set for the potential sale a week later
A week later a second email is sent out which contains a link to the sales page [http://alchemyracingsystems.co.uk/royal_ascot_2012/]
Clicking on the buy button sends you to a sign up page [http://cleeveracing.com/ra-2012-members-sign-up-form]
After completing the required information, the subscriber is the redirected through to paypal to complete the transaction.
I have checked that Paypal PDT is set up correctly as per your integration instructions.
This does not seem to explain why the clicks are being incorrectly counted
thanks
June 1, 2012 at 1:19 am #45661adminKeymasterThe landing page is in one domain and the item is being purchased from another domain:
Landing page – [http://alchemyracingsystems.co.uk]
Actual payment button – [http://cleeveracing.com]
That is not a correct setup for a WordPress plugin. You can’t install the plugin in domain “X” and expect it to work on domain “Y”. The cookie from one domain cannot be accessed from another domain for security reasons. Ask yourself the following question and it will give you better perspective. Can you install the “Akismet” plugin on domain “X” and expect it to block spam comments on domain “Y”? The answer is no (all WordPress plugin works the same way). So that is the reason why sales are not being tracked for your setup.

FYI – don’t worry about the clicks. The click could have come from just clicking on the ad that gets displayed in the ads section. If a sell doesn’t take place then a click means nothing. The commission is only awarded after a confirmed sale.

June 6, 2012 at 1:53 am #45663adminKeymasterWhich page do the user get redirected to after the payment? Please share the URL of that page.
When you did the test, did you get redirected to that page after the sale?
June 6, 2012 at 9:27 am #45664alchemynickMemberthe return url I am being sent to after payment is
[http://cleeveracing.com/ra-2012-members-sign-up-form/?s2member_paypal_xco=s2member_pro_paypal_checkout_return&token=EC-5KJ88837D4703260A&PayerID=LTL5N54RQ2Y76]
the autoreturn url set up in paypal under selling preferences is [http://cleeveracing.com/welcome-to-the-2012-royal-ascot-service]
I don’t know why we are not returned to that page
June 6, 2012 at 1:13 pm #45665adminKeymasterThat suggests that you are using S2Member plugin? Have you followed this S2Members integration documentation?
Also, please check the “Enable Debug” checkbox in the affiliate settings and share the content of the debug file after you do a transaction so I can see what it is doing after a sale.
