Please provide some direction on how I might remove the Last Name from the Registration Page, shortcode [emember-registration] it is set to required and visible false in the admin section. Documentation says, username, password and email are the only mandatory fields?
Thanks.
September 12, 2012 at 6:06 am #49242PeterMemberYou would normally remove the lastname field from the admin section as you described – by setting the first checkbox to disabled.
Are you by any chance using a caching plugin?
Can you please send a link to the registration form page so we can take a look?
Also, load a fresh copy of the plugin:

September 13, 2012 at 11:15 pm #49243rainbowmuiscMemberThanks for the tips. I have re-installed with current version with the same outcome. I have since hacked the eMember_registration_utils.php file and removed the required and form echo components, working now but bit of a hack that won’t carry forward to further updates. Documentation does say the Last Name is an “Optional” field wondering if this is planned for the future? Thanks.
September 13, 2012 at 11:52 pm #49244PeterMemberThe last name field should not display on the form if you uncheck the box in the “Registration Form Fields” section of the settings page.
I’m not totally sure why this isn’t working on your system. Possibly another plugin might be interfering with this or you didn’t do a clean re-install. Did you completely delete the eMember plugin from your site before installing the new copy that you download recently?
Remember, there are two sections in the settings area… one for the registration form and one for the edit profile form. You are updating the checkboxes for the “Registration form” area correct? One time a user was updating the settings of the edit profile form and couldn’t figure out why it wasn’t changing on the registration form.
Now, in the registration form there are two checkboxes under the “Last Name” field. One for hiding the field and one for making the field required. You have unchecked both of them right?
Alos, Why don’t you temporarily revert your hack and then try the theme/plugin conflict test to see if another plugin is causing the issue:

December 30, 2012 at 5:47 am #49245Rob WhisonantMemberI am having the exact same problem. I have a clean install of version 8.4.3 Have unchecked both check boxes for the last name field under Registration Form Fields.
Even if you leave the last name field blank, it returns with the error that all fields must be filled in.
I am using the free membership must verify email option.

You’ll need version 8.4.7.
That worked for me.
Best,
Jerry
