Hi. I am using this shortcode:
[wp_eStore_download_now_button_with_stamping id=8]
which allows my customers to download a pdf and get it stamped. I’m also using eMember – so the page is protected and available to members only.
Its all been working fine for several weeks – but since yesterday customers are reporting that sometimes the button works (they get their stamped pdf) and sometimes they get nothing but a blank page.
I’ve tested it myself and also get intermittent results. I can’t work out why? I’m not aware I’ve changed anything (I did do a WordPress update – but that was several days ago, but I suppose it might be related?).
Any tips or tricks I could try?
Many thanks!
August 8, 2013 at 11:22 pm #56989adminKeymasterIts best to take a look at your server’s CPU and memory usage data when it doesn’t work. That can help with the investigation. Ask your hosting provider if they have applied any changes to your server recently.
Have you enabled the PDF file encryption feature in the settings? If you have then try without that option and see if there a change.
Go to the manage stamped files menu and delete all files and cache.
Finally load a fresh copy of the plugin:

Let me know how it goes after that.
August 10, 2013 at 1:34 pm #56990SevMemberHi. Alas I’m still struggling! I have yet to get the server’s CPU and memory details – but I’m using a very good hosting service (so can’t imagine it would be that) – but I’ll check it anyway.
As for the other things: I don’t have encryption enabled, I deleted all files and cache and I installed a fresh copy of the stamper plugin. But still doesn’t work properly. Help!
Thanks.
August 10, 2013 at 2:02 pm #56991SevMemberHi. One thing I did do recently around the same time that the stamping stopped working, was upgrade WordPress to the latest version. Could that have done anything to stop the stamper from working?
Thanks!
August 11, 2013 at 12:00 am #56992adminKeymasterUpgrading wordpress shouldn’t cause this issue. Since you haven’t changed anything else, I would try to get the CPU and RAM usage details from the hosting provider. There is a good chance that they may have changed things on your server.
August 11, 2013 at 10:27 am #56993SevMemberHi. My hosting provider confirms that the CPU and RAM usage are not an issue here – and they’ve asked me to find out what file is used for the mail sending and what protocol it uses (SMTP or PHPMail). Do you know the answer to this?
I’ve told them that I’m using Wp-Mail-SMPT – so I don’t know what the question they are asking really means!
What I find difficult is that the problem is intermittent – most often it doesn’t work, but sometimes it does (and I’ve tried it with different pdf files).
Many thanks.
August 13, 2013 at 10:54 am #56994SevMemberHi. Any clues as to what I can try next? At the moment I’ve had to stop using the pdf stamper because too many customers were not getting the pdf’s they had paid for! so I’m really keen to get it all up and working again:)
Many thanks for your help.
August 13, 2013 at 11:44 pm #56995adminKeymasterHosting providers like to say that
I sent you an email to get access so I can check it.
Update: Tweaked around the settings a little to turn off PDF file encryption and changed the stamping method to the 2nd one. This should help reduce the power necessary to perform the stamping which helped.
