Tagged: subscription, WP eStore
Hello, I rebranded one of my sites to a new domain. WP eStore was installed and used to create recurring subscriptions on the old domain. At the time, PayPal IPN was active in my PayPal account for WP eStore. (However, I am now using IPN for WHMCS instead)
Most of the subscriptions via PayPal from that old domain are still active. When those payments come through each month, I keep getting a message from PayPal that IPN failed.
The old website doesn’t exist. I used Backup Buddy to move the site from the old domain to the new domain and though maybe there was something written into one of the files for the old domain.
I can’t find anything doing a Google search or in PayPal’s IPN documentation about IPN from old url’s… Is there something in any of the WP eStore files where I can remove the URL to stop this from happening in the future?
When a subscription is created, PayPal stores the IPN URL in their server. Then they will keep sending IPN to that URL until that subscription is cancelled or it ends.
So you just need to cancel that subscription and PayPal will stop sending IPN to the URL associated with that subscription. You can go through all the active subscription profiles in your PayPal account then deactivate this old one.
They are valid subscriptions, though as all those clients on the old domain are all active members on the new domain. I understand what you’re saying, but to try and explain to all those clients that the reason their subscription needs to be cancelled and reactivated because of a PayPal technical issue is not going to fly. Not the fault of WP eStore. Thanks for the explanation! I couldn’t find it anywhere in PayPal documentation.
