Hi,
I’m using WP 3.1 and Thesis 1.8 on Mac OSX 10.6.6, and just updated WPestore this morning. I’m following along the estore quick setup video, and at about 12:21, it discusses adding short code to the ‘Store’ page. But I don’t have such a button. I’ve searched the forum and the site for answers, but don’t find any hints. Any idea what could be wrong, or what I might try to fix this? It seems like such a handy feature.
Thanks,
ME
February 27, 2011 at 1:00 pm #29598MEMemberOkay – I can answer part of the question, but not all, after reading the post here:
When I returned to my WordPress admin page after a long absence, it announced that 3 plug-ins needed upgrades. It provided me with the 2.8.6 version of WPeStore, so I figured that was the latest. In the case of another plug-in that required an upgrade, it automatically provided a second message when the first version upgraded was not the latest version; it did not do so with WP eStore, leaving the WP user with no indication that the version is not up to date.
This is certainly an issue worth looking into. I will now try upgrading and see if that fixes the problem.
Thanks,

February 27, 2011 at 1:15 pm #29600MEMemberNow I’m trying to use the upgrade form, and—looking back at the response letter to my purchase—there is no transaction ID of any kind, so it’s unclear how to identify oneself in order to do the update.
Any help would be gratefully received.

February 27, 2011 at 1:18 pm #29601MEMemberOkay, I’ve now read this: ” I send out updates to my existing customers once I accumulate these small updates and reach a milestone and have performed a reasonable amount of testing.” and I can say with certainty that I have never received any notification of an upgrade.
Perhaps the system is not including all email addresses, for some reason?
Thanks,

February 27, 2011 at 1:34 pm #29602MEMemberOkay, so I’ve now figured out that the Transaction code is from PayPal – this is not clear on the automatic download page for someone who doesn’t happen to remember that, so a note to this effect would be helpful.
Everything went smoothly and I received the code. But the link takes me to the installation and upgrade guide, (in Google Chrome 9.0.597.102) on which there is no obvious place to upgrade (and I had already been there half a dozen times trying to figure out how to upgrade.
It works and downloads a file on Firefox 3.6.13, which I keep around as a back-up for situations like this, but there is clearly a bug with Chrome.
I also notice that the order of instructions for upgrading is completely different in the email with the upgrade link than it is on the installation and upgrade page. On that page it says to deactivate first. In the email, it says to upload first.
For someone who is not deeply familiar with the process of upgrading plug-ins, this difference is frustrating, because it’s unclear which approach should be followed for best results.
Thanks,

February 27, 2011 at 1:58 pm #29603MEMemberAll right, well, I have now installed the actual latest version and the shopping cart button with short codes now appears with the menu as expected.
I might also mention that it would be really helpful on this site to have a support menu tab that includes pages like the upgrade page, which are important and need to be accessed, but are currently not in any obvious place in the site navigation, afaics. This, uniform instructions, and identification of terms such as “Transaction ID” – which are undoubtedly clear to those who do this all the time, but are opaque to people who must work on their websites part-time and intermittently – would be really helpful in streamlining the process.
Thanks,
ME
