So, that does confirm that the “…Address Checking” option should be left checked, especially since an alias is not in use.
What is meant by the “Secure Merchant ID”?
Is that the PayPal merchant ID? Or, does it have to be the PayPal e-mail address?
It should be checked if the “Paypal Email Address” under Settings –> Payment Gateway Settings is the same as your primary PayPal account email.
Secure Merchant ID is an alternative way of identifying your PayPal account. It is listed as “Merchant account ID” on your PayPal profile page.
The feature allowing for the Secure Merchant ID is interfering with the message transmitted to the Thank You page.
I tried changing the Secure Merchant ID to the PayPal e-mail address. After another successful transaction, the field which used to contain the error message, “Invalid Seller Paypal Email Address Detected”, changed to the thank you message, “Thank You for your purchase. Product(s) will be delivered when the payment is cleared.”
What should I do to be able to use the Secure Merchant ID without the error message showing?
Don’t enable the “Use Strict PayPal Email Address Checking” option in the eStore plugin settings.
Are you suggesting that the address checking security feature does not work with the Secure Merchant ID?
We are suggesting that you simply leave the option unchecked; and see if that fixes your issue(s).
The address checking security feature is for when you are using a PayPal email address (not a merchant ID).
