What might be the issue when no download links are generated for digital products?
Don’t show on Thank-you page, not in emails and not in the admin page when “generate link” is pushed. I even don’t know where to start looking for the problem.
It all worked well a week ago when I tested thoroughly, but somehow not now any more.
April 17, 2012 at 1:20 pm #44169PeterMemberHi,
I recommend that you firstly look at the following checks since you say that your plugin mysteriously stopped working correctly:

April 17, 2012 at 1:52 pm #44170martMemberHi again,
I might have a clue where to start looking.
Since last time I tested (and everything worked ok with the download links) I have modified the wp-config.php file.
[admin removed the content of the config file after troubleshooting]
Do you have some thoughts and suggestions?
April 17, 2012 at 2:20 pm #44171martMemberComment to Peter: actually everything works fine (plugin did not mysteriously stop working correctly), except the link generation.
April 17, 2012 at 6:05 pm #44172sevannMemberI am having the exact same issue here. I can’t generate any download links and email are sent without download links. Everything was working fine yesterday
April 17, 2012 at 8:13 pm #44173martMemberit seems I found the problem, I had the link shortening configured as you have suggested:
Added the option to automatically shorten the encrypted download links in WP eStore. To enable this otpion simply open “eStore_advanced_configs.php” file and search for this line of code:
define(‘WP_ESTORE_AUTO_SHORTEN_DOWNLOAD_LINKS’, false);
Once you find it, change it the following and it will enable this option:
define(‘WP_ESTORE_AUTO_SHORTEN_DOWNLOAD_LINKS’, true);
now as I put it back to “false” I got the links
but still I would like this shortening back

I am also having hard time to get my WP e-store worked properly. I have been trying this now for months. There is no download link in the message generated after anyone tries to by a product on my website. Also even though Paypal collects the money, the paypal account is still showing zero amount in the account. This might be a wrong configuration of the settings. I have changed nothing in the code so far.
is there any change guys might give me hand on this? I thank you in advance for your answer.
March 18, 2014 at 2:34 pm #44176wzpModeratorThe fact that “…Paypal collects the money, the paypal account is still showing zero amount in the account…” is a bigger issue. Do you mean that PayPal goes through the motions of asking the buyer for payment information, but that no money is deposited in your account? Have you actually tried this yourself (buy something), or are you just being told that by buyers? Does everything “work for you, but not for others?” Is this only happening to certain buyers, or to everyone?
Unless PayPal actually collects money, it won’t send an IPN to eStore. You did remember to enter your correct PayPal account address, under the Payment Gateway settings?
One other thing. If you go to the Admin Functions, are you able to successfully generate a manual download link?
March 19, 2014 at 11:39 am #44177patientMemberThanks for your response, Sir. YES. This happens to everyone. I did even try to buy last time on the website but the money has been put on hold for days by Paypal till cancelled. I did not understand anything. Buyers (all of them) also saying that the money has been collected by Paypal but no balance shows up on the Paypal account. And therefore the message they all received after they proceed the payment, has no download link. Since this is a client’s website and the Paypal account was created by herself (I did just ask for her Paypal email account for the plugin to work), I would like to make sure the issue is not from my side. I have also told the Website client to put the paypal account email as ‘default’ in the configuration part of her Paypal account. I don’t know what she did. This might also be a wrong settings I have done since the download link is not even showing up in the clients emails.
I have just tried to generate a manual link from Admin Functions. Please see below what I found. I am not sure whether or not this is really a download link.
Your help is really appreciated.
Patient.

The problem is not with eStore. There is a “fundamental problem” with your PayPal account, that needs to be fixed before you can even think about using eStore. I noticed that your website is in the DRC. PayPal may have some “special requirements” for your country. You need to call them and resolve the issue.
But before calling them, you can help narrow down the issue, by being able to answer some questions they may ask you, such as:
- Is your account “Verified?”
- Is your bank account within the same country as your residence?
- Are you able to manually use PayPal to “Receive Money” from someone; using just the PayPal (not eStore) website?
One other thing… and I’m not an expert in this, but it needs to be pointed out; just in case this “really is the problem.” PayPal is a US corporation. The US Treasury Department has the DRC on its list of countries subject to “economic sanctions.” You might have to find another payment processor, that is not based in the US. Hint: Look for a payment processor, that we support, with headquarters in a non Western aligned country.
The following post is a good read for you too:

March 20, 2014 at 5:07 am #44179patientMemberHi there,
Thank you for deleting the link. It was a mistake. I appreciate.
Is there any chance you can help me solve my issue?
Thanks for your usual help.
Patient.
March 20, 2014 at 6:10 am #44180patientMemberOh! Sorry. I have just gotten your answer… Please do not consider my last question. Thanks.
March 20, 2014 at 12:21 pm #44181patientMemberThanks for this comprehensive answer, Sir. I will get the customer call Paypal so that we get the issue resolved. Actually, the paypal bank account is in Canada and the Client lives in Canada even though the website is built to serve in DRC.
She might also consider to close the actual Paypal account or create a new Paypal account or change to another payment processor supported by eStore. If possible.
I thank you again,
Patient.
