Hi There,
I have opted to not send the “final welcome email” from Mailchimp (setting in Autoresponder). However the final welcome email gets sent out. Have contacted Mailchimp support and they suggested to come back to plugin developer as they have no knowledge of the integration.
Please advise how to fix this as I don’t want my customer to receive so many emails. (purchase confirmation, eMember registration link, eMember registration confirmation…AND the mailchimp welcome email)
Look forward to your response.
October 9, 2012 at 7:04 am #50165adminKeymasterHave you turned off the double opt-in option for mailchimp signups?
October 9, 2012 at 12:22 pm #50166PeterMemberHi,
The final welcome email is something which is coming from your mailchimp account settings. See my response here and try the suggestion to see if this works:

October 10, 2012 at 1:13 am #50167paulcookMemberHi Peter and Admin, thanks but the later posts to topic: “i-cannot-transfer-members-to mailchimp” and subsequent replies still do not address my issue sorry.
As the title topic of that post isn’t actually related to the topic of this post I will continue this topic here ok?
I had not switched off “double optin” from eMember… because I haven’t checked “use mailchimp autoresponder” in eMember. Therefore I didn’t expect eMember to be triggering this. I have done so now just in case.
However, I do have “use mailchimp autoresponder” checked in eStore and “do not send double optin confirmation email” checked.
Plus I had already unchecked the option in mailchimp settings at the “Design Form” page: “Send A Final Welcome Email info”
Can you advise further what it is that I’m overlooking please?
cheers Paul
October 10, 2012 at 8:07 am #50168adminKeymasterAs far as I know, MailChimp has no option to turn off the final *subscription confirmed* email that gets sent out after a user is subscribed via the API. Please refer to their API documentation for subscribing a user below:
http://apidocs.mailchimp.com/api/1.3/listsubscribe.func.php
Unless mailchimp provides an option to turn this off via the API, the eStore plugin won’t be able to do anything about it.
October 16, 2012 at 10:44 pm #50169paulcookMemberThe reply from Mailchimp support says their API can do any or all of the above as far as I can understand it. However, I’m not a programmer. See below:
from mailchimp support***************
When using the API, the optin process and corresponding forms are defiantly completely customizable. While the API and the specific calls are a bit over our heads, there is a support forum located within the help documents. The API support link can be found below, this would be the best place to go for support with the API’s functionality.

Will you be able to modify your plugin so that I can switch off the final “subscription confirmed” email from Mailchimp?
Thanks.
October 17, 2012 at 1:58 pm #50170adminKeymasterI can definitely add this if there is an option in the API. I am looking at the API but I can’t see any option for this. This support guy that replied to you doesn’t seem to have a good understanding of their API details. Ask another tech guy the following question:
Which parameter should we use to turn off the final welcome email when using the following API function?
http://apidocs.mailchimp.com/api/1.3/listsubscribe.func.php
October 18, 2012 at 1:05 am #50171paulcookMemberReply from Mailchimp support:
Using the listSubscribe() function they would want to refer to the two boolean options which control what emails get sent when someone subscribes. bool double_optin and bool send_welcome, specifically. The flag for double optin would control if the subscriber receives a confirmation email to confirm, or if they’re added directly to the list without confirming. The send_welcome flag would control if the final welcome email should be sent. If double optin is true, then the welcome email will send. The specifics of the functionality for this can be found toward the middle of the page on the link provided:
http://apidocs.mailchimp.com/api/1.3/listsubscribe.func.php
Let us know if there’s anything else we can help out with! Have a great day!
October 19, 2012 at 6:10 am #50172adminKeymasterThank you. That should help. I will look into adding an option for this.
October 19, 2012 at 8:18 am #50173paulcookMemberAwesome, looking forward to it.
October 20, 2012 at 4:41 am #50174adminKeymasterAdded an option for this. Sent you an updated copy of eStore to check it.
October 23, 2012 at 11:38 pm #50175paulcookMemberFirstly, thankyou for responding to this request so quickly… you’re a legend. I’ve installed the updated plugin and it works perfectly for eStore using Mailchimp Autoresponder. (I tested it specifically…)
However, (you’re going to love me for this…) I actually don’t generate the MailChimp / Autoresponder in eStore in my setup.
I load the customer to Mailchimp via eMember. (because I must have them register a membership to access the Autoresponder program, they don’t automatically get it by making a purchase)
I’m so sorry for not realizing this in the first place.
Can I get you to put this modification into the eMember plugin please?
Hopefully this hasn’t stretched our friendship too far…
cheers Paul
October 24, 2012 at 5:58 am #50176adminKeymasterWe will add this to eMember too.
October 26, 2012 at 7:00 am #50177adminKeymasterI have added this option in the eMember plugin. Download a new copy of eMember plugin to get this option:
