If you are having trouble downloading the digital product via the encrypted download link then you should first test to make sure that the WP eStore Plugin’s encrypted download system is working on your server.
There is a really easy way to test this without actually making any purchase.
Step 1. Create a test file with whatever content and zip the file (example: test.zip).
Step 2. Upload this file to your server and take note of the URL of this file
Step 3. Create a test product with this file’s URL as the “Digital Product URL”.
Step 4. Go to the “Settings” menu of this plugin and enable the debug option. This will write debug in the “download_manager_debug.log” file when you attempt to download a file via the encrypted link.
Step 5. Go to the “Admin Functions” menu of WP eStore plugin and generate an encrypted download link for this product that you just created in step3.
Step 6. Try downloading the file using the encrypted link that you just generated.
Does the file download correctly? If not, please try tweaking the download method settings of WP eStore explained here:
WP eStore Download Methods – Change Encrypted Download Methods
Once you can successfully download the file via the encrypted download link then you know that the system is working and you can move to creating products with your own actual digital files and test them.
June 17, 2011 at 6:45 pm #31933zskymanMemberI also am having problems with digital downloads. I did the above steps, and it worked however it said could not open the zip file i created. It said it was corrupted. My zip file was 3 pictures….409k total size of the zip.

this is the link it generated….but not sure if this matters, but site is live now and uses http://www.wilcomfonts.com instead of the IP numbers address.

June 18, 2011 at 1:13 am #31935amin007ParticipantI just clicked on the encrypted links and was able to download the file and view the 3 images inside the zip file. I am guessing you have figured it out using one of the download methods.

February 28, 2012 at 9:41 am #31937epiloMemberHi, I’ve been told to post my debug issue here. I’ve been through the check list and I’m still getting the error. Cant find file on Server…although its definitely there when I browse to it?

I’ve just tried changing the Download method again to method 2 or 6, as directed from another admin post. This didn’t work for me..so I went through all of the other methods and tied the encrypted link again.
Method 7 worked for me! and the encrypted links appear to be working correctly now?
However there is a WARNING attached to this method below the dropdown box and not sure entirely what this means.
Could someone please let me know this method is OK for me to use, if the links are working fine?

Sounds like your downloads are working fine – is that right?
Regarding the warning message, what is the message?
If it is a warning like this one “Warning: file_exists() [function.file-exists]: open_basedir restriction in effect. “

Thanks for the reply. Yes they appear to be working fine using this setting.
Under the Settings>Adons section of the plugin, where you can select Download Method, it states:(See below) I was wondering if i can use this method, whether it was ok to do so with this warning. I would have thought that where you put your link to the digital content; that this was an absolute URL?
WARNING: Method 7, cURL requires the “Do Not Convert” Automatic URL Conversion Preference, and that ALL product download files be specified as fully qualified URL (not absolute or relative file names). If the cURL library is not installed on your server, Method 7 will not appear in the drop down menu.
February 28, 2012 at 10:49 pm #31941adminKeymasterThis warning is for admin only just to make sure you understand that you need to use absolute/FULL URL when using method 7. If your file downloads fine with this method then you are good to use it.
