I found this in the WP eStore features: “Ability to specify a minimum checkout amount (example: only allow customers to checkout if the cart sub total value is more than $50.00)” Since I am including some small add-on products, I want to be able to set a minimum price for checkout so that the small items can’t be purchased on their own but I can’t find the instructions for how to set the amount. I apologize if I am overlooking something obvious but how do I set this?

    Hi,

You can put a minimum cart checkout amount restriction in the following section of eStore settings:

WP eStore settings -> Shopping Cart Specific Settings -> Enable Checkout Amount Limitations

Once you set an amount there, customers who do not go over that amount won’t be able to checkout.

Thank you both for your response. I went into Settings but found only General Settings>General Shopping Cart Settings. I must be looking in the wrong place but have been through everything and can’t find anything for specific settings. At the top of the page it says WP eStore Settings v 5.2.0. Am I working with the right version?

I am wishing also to apply a minimum amount to the cart. I have just uploaded a new build of the cart: WP eStore Settings v 5.8.7. I am not seeing shopping cart specific settings.

How could I specify a minimum checkout amount for just one single/specific product, and not for the entire cart?

For pre-defined quantities, you would use product variations:

I saw the post you linked to during my research, but I fail to see how this would help my situation.

I have an issue with setting up a minimum checkout amount for one single product only, and not offering bundle rebates.

The product I’m trying to tweak does not have any (quantity) variations. I simply do not want to sell it for less then 5 units.

Price per unit is $5, so if I set up a minimum checkout price at $25 I’d be able to solve the issue with this specific product.

However, on the same site I have products who cost less than $25, and setting up the minimum checkout price at $25 will hinder the sale of those products.

I think you can achieve a similar result by using the product variations:

    https://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/how-to-use-variation-control-in-wordpress-estore-plugin-345

    Here is an example:

You can have the following variations for your units:

    5 Pack @ $25

    6 Pack @ $30

    etc.

5 pack is your base option so when someone is adding this item to the cart, they have to chose the minimum option which is 5.

After you specify a few quantity *packs* in the variation, someone can buy multiples of that pack amount. Lets say, you have 6 variations that goes from 5 pack to 10 pack. Now, if someone wanted 50 units, they can just buy 5 quantity of the 10 packs.

Sorry, I tried but it’s not working with product variations. Maybe you could suggest another way. I really need to be able to set up a per product specific minimum cart limitation.

Here is my situation in a nutshell:

    1. I sell a digital content product for $1/100 words here: [http://101content.com/articles/]

I have clients who purchase 5 credits for $5 and ask me to deliver a 500 word article. However, PayPal’s fee for this quantity, usually almost 10% ($.48), eats A LOT of my margin for such small orders.

I tried educating my clients, changing the product’s purchase instructions etc, but nothing is really working. I need to be able to actually set up a cart limitation for anyone who purchases this product. They should be able to purchase 10 or more content credits, for at least $10, but no less.

    2. I cannot use the store-wide Enable Checkout Amount Limitations setting, because I promote my service using another product that costs only 1 cent: [http://101content.com/1-cent-test-article/]

I’d appreciate any help I could get in solving this issue.

All you have to do is enable the cart checkout limit feature and use a minimum limit of $10. That way everyone has to have at least $10 worth of item in the cart before checkout. Have I missed something?

You probably should contact PayPal and get the micro-transaction rate enabled in your profile. That way, Paypal will charge you a lot less for these smaller transactions.
