Hi there,
I’m sure this is a simple issue but I could not find instructions in the documentation forum.
If I want to refund a transaction, rather than refunding in Paypal, is there somewhere in eStore I can do this, so that it is updated in the sales stats in the plugin, as well as reversing any commission for affiliates? (I have both the affiliate plugin and the eStore plugin installed)
Look forward to your reply.
Thanks!
Grace
February 1, 2011 at 4:10 am #28547wpCommerceModeratorYou can issue a refund from your PayPal account (PayPal transactions can be refunded for up to 60 days).
Log into your PayPal account then search for the transaction that you want to refund. View the details of the transaction and you will see an “Issue refund” link which can be used to refund that sale.
When you issue a refund PayPal will send a notification to WP eStore and the plugin will take care of the rest if you have the option enabled (e.g. removing the customer’s record, reversing the commission).

For eStore please go to eStore settings and check the following option:
WP eStore -> General Settings -> Post Payment Processing Settings -> Use Automatic Customer Record Removal
Reversing Commission Automatically
For Affiliate platform please go to
WP Affiliate Settings -> Commission Settings -> Use Automatic Commission Reversal

I actually have another question about this. I am using eStore in connection with a membership (WishList) I have set up. If I was going to successfully refund a member, (or in cases where someone decides to cancel their subscription) – and have the account removed from both the shopping cart AND WishList would I do the same thing you’ve described? It would be nice if I didn’t have to manually remove this accounts.
Thanks again
Bentley
February 4, 2011 at 2:14 am #28551amin007ParticipantThere is an option to cancel the membership in WishList. Maybe I can use that API to cancel the account when it receives a refund. I will look into it.

I am interested, too.
Thanks,

April 12, 2011 at 2:20 am #28553amin007ParticipantYep I added this in. WP eStore will deactivate a member’s account when they cancel the subscription or when a refund is issued.
Please get a new build of eStore from here:
April 29, 2011 at 8:38 am #28554Chris AitkenMemberI just purchased WP eStore within the last 24 hours … would the version I purchased have the functionality to deactivate a member’s account in Wishlist Member when they cancel the subscription or when a refund is issued?
Thanks, Chris

June 13, 2011 at 3:39 pm #28556christinegMemberWill the new build deactivate the entire account, or will it just cancel the specific membership product? I have customers with multiple products, and only one of them is a membership product.
I haven’t installed the new build yet.
On the installation I have right now, I notice that when someone cancels their membership, the information doesn’t cancel them from the continuity product in Wishlist member.
June 14, 2011 at 12:49 am #28557amin007ParticipantIt will simply deactivate the specific member’s account when a refund is issued to their original membership payment. WP eStore does not know anything about continuity program. When a member cancels their subscription to a member eStore simply deactivates that account.
June 14, 2014 at 1:20 am #28558PosturallyMemberI have a WishList Member course I’m selling using a PayPal hosted button and wp affiliate – no estore.
I’d like to do what you’ve described in this thread. Given that I am bypassing estore altogether, is it still possible for me to reverse the commission for refunded wishlist memberships?
April 3, 2015 at 4:23 pm #28559Ryan75MemberHello there !
I just activate Automatic Customer Record Removal for ep store and Automatic Commission Reversal for affiliate plugin.
I would like to know if the function is retroactive ? Or should i delete by myself from the affiliate all the people that has been refunded before i activate the options ?
Regards
April 3, 2015 at 9:58 pm #28560adminKeymasterIt will auto delete records for any future transactions (after you have enabled the feature).
