I’ve uploaded an MP3 to my site that I want to sell. The buy now and add to cart buttons work great. I want to offer this download to just a few people for free.
I’ve seen here (https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/download-now-gives-it-away-free) that there is a download now button that I can use to give the product for free… but I want to primarily sell it.
Any ideas how I can give the download from a back door somehow?
What I have been doing is buying the product myself (on a discount I created myself) then sending the Thank-you e-mail to my clients so they can use the download. But, I don’t want to continue doing that.July 31, 2014 at 4:57 am #64689adminKeymaster
You can create a page then put a squeeze form in that page. Only people that you share this page’s URL will know about it. You can also delete that page and create a new one (If someone else discover that page).July 31, 2014 at 3:01 pm #64690
ok. Will try that, thanks.July 31, 2014 at 3:05 pm #64691
Another related question – how many downloads does the program allow? I put 5 in the e-store settings, but my client only seems to be able to try one time and then she gets the error message:
“The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.
The problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) has been used too many times. If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.”
She’s not too techy which is why I put 5 tries into the e-store settings for that particular product. So far I’ve bought and sent her 2 e-mails and she couldn’t get the download.
Thanks.July 31, 2014 at 8:13 pm #64692
The default is 5 times or 48 hours, whichever comes first. You can change those numbers to whatever you want. You can also specify different download usage limit on a per product basis.
So far I’ve bought and sent her 2 e-mails…
You don’t have to “buy” her products; use the Admin Functions page to generate email links.
You can use the File Download Stats addon to keep track of how many time she ***really*** clicked on the link:August 2, 2014 at 1:55 am #64693
