Tagged: affiliate platform cloak links
I really like the plugin and its smooth integration with wp_estore.
One question: how can I get nicer URLs that hide the reflink a little bit?
I want something like:
before: [www.website.com/?ap_id=somebody]
after: [www.website.com/x0F27Gh]
or something like that
I would love to have this included somehow in an update.
I know my way around PHP so if you have a quick hack to include this, let me know.
This is used on several websites I know so I think your users would definitely profit from this.
I think you are after cloaking the affiliate link. You can only cloak affiliate links on the client side (your affiliates will use it on their sites) using a plugin like the following:
This is the whole reason affiliate link croakers exists. Your pro affiliates will already be using a similar software or technique to cloak their affiliate links on their end.
However, you can choose to hide the affiliate ID after a visitor lands on your sales page following an affiliate link. This post will explain how to do that:
I’m curious about this too. My affiliates are posting links to Facebook and it looks pretty amateurish – how can I get pretty URLs for them to be sharing?
The answer to your question is in the previous post. Your affiliates who know how to do it will already be doing it by using a link cloaker software/plugin or a link shortener. This is one of the main reasons services and products that allow you shorten or cloak links exists.
One of the easiest ways to do this is to take the affiliate link then run it through a link shortener and then share that shortened version of the link. If some of your affiliates do not know how to do this then you can leave some instruction on your site to educate them.
