I have several eBooks on my site. Currently only PDF is available. I want to add MOBI and Kindle Versions. Do I need to create 3 different products? How do I make one product offer 3 different downloadable versions for the customer to choose from?

Some useful info here also:
October 3, 2015 at 11:12 am #70498gilteddgeMemberI have the same query.
I want to offer PDF,MOBI,ePub etc versions of my digital eBook.
I have read all the instructions on Digital Variations but cannot see where or how I link the TITLE of the eBook format e.g. PDF, to the ACTUAL DOWNLOAD URL, which I need to do MULTIPLE TIMES. Your tutorial is vague on this specific point. I do not want the download URL to be displayed in the shopping cart, merely a drop down menu of the formats, and when that format is selected that is the format the buyer gets in the encrypted link they are sent. Clearly I am stupid and missing something, so what is it?
October 3, 2015 at 3:06 pm #70499adminKeymasterHave you configured the digital variation for this product? Check the following documentation to learn about variation control:
You will have 3 variations for this product. The variations will be PDF, MOBI, ePub. You will specify the download link for each of those variations when you configure it. Then when the customers go to purchase this item, they will select one of those variations. The plugin will send the appropriate file download link (based on the customer’s selection) after the payment.
October 5, 2015 at 8:53 pm #70500gilteddgeMemberThank you, yes, I have read the tutoriai (which is vague) but I do not see any field to enter the URL for each of PDF, MOBI, ePUB.
There is merely a text box for up to 4 “product variations” and 1 field titled “digital variation”.
I do not see any field titled: “Digital Product URL” and the the screen says I need to use this field to enter the URL.
I can use the 3 product variations to enter Titles e.g. PDF, MOBI, ePUB BUT WHERE DO I ENTER THE ASSOCIATED URL’S?
October 5, 2015 at 10:14 pm #70501adminKeymasterThere is a section in that documentation labelled “Variation Control for Digital products”. That section explains how to use digital variation control. I am reading it right now and I see the explanation there.
It also has examples of how how to enter the details in the digital variation field.
In your case, you will enter something like the following in your “Digital Variation Field” of the product (the URLs will need to be changed to the correct ones for you).
eBook Format|PDF::http://yourdomain.com/ebook-pdf|MOBI::http://yourdomain.com/ebook.mobi|ePUB::http://yourdomain.com/ebook.epub
Also, towards the bottom of that documentation it has a section labelled “Variation Configuration UI”. You can install that addon if you want it. It will allows you to configure the digital variation using an interface which might be easier for you.
October 6, 2015 at 4:43 pm #70502gilteddgeMemberThanks! I understand now.
I see that what I failed to notice was that the title “Digital Variation Example” is actually hyperlinked. If I had clicked on this I would have got the answer right away.
Sorry, that just shows how stupid I am.
Anyhow, the product is fantastic value for $50, thank you and well done!
