Form Builder addon: Required Select defaults with filled in answer

Hi,

I wonder if you can help me?

I have created a registration page with the Form Builder addon and am having a problem with the Select dropdown I am using. I would like the field to be blank, just showing ‘Please select your option’ in the same way as the Password field but it is defaulting to being filled in.

The options are for Gift Aid and require a ‘Yes’, ‘No’ or ‘Not a UK resident’ answer. It was defaulting to Yes so I tried adding a ‘Please select your answer’ option but it is defaulting to this and people registering are able to miss this field out without providing an answer.

For a select dropdown field, you need to keep the 1st option empty. Now, making that field “required” will force the user to have to select an option from the dropdown before they can submit the form.
