Forcing buyer to choose country before shipping is displayed

I found a 2 year old topic similar to this, but wanted to get a more up to date reply.

I am having international customers not choosing the right country. they just choose the default country.

Is there a way to force them to choose a country before any shipping is displayed and the check out process is completed?

Hi Angie, We have made a change in the plugin so your customers now always have to choose an option from the shipping variation before they can do the checkout.

Please load a new copy of the plugin and you will get this change:

Thank you. I did update the plugin. Is there any way for the country selection to be blank until they choose?

Make the first variation dropdown option to say something like “Select One” or use an empty space character.
