Customer History available to customers without eMember

Hey,

First of all I LOVE this plugin. Used it for about a year and it’s been a champ from day one. Easy to install and setup. Most of all – looks nice. I run my site with s2Member and WP eStore side by side with no hitches.

I see you can access some features using eMember/eStore in tandem like product sales history but you can’t do it without the eMember plugin. I would guess there are a lot of obvious reasons such as making the eMember/eStore combo valuable.

I’m not looking to change institutions you may have installed but it seems you could offer things like product history inside the actual commerce plugin. Heck, even things like the free “eStore Members Only Download” plugin seems like it could work as easily without the eMember plugin if you set it up to do so (based on site levels). I realize I may be wrong and you may be reading this going “he has NO idea!” but if you look at it from my perspective I came here for the eStore plugin first. For me, any and all commerce related features should be in the commerce plugin and if they are extensions (paid or not) then I would prefer them to be extensions which are stand-alone and aren’t linked to something as fundamental as another membership plugin.

Again – apologies if the whole point of the deal here is to buy both. I didn’t know at the time and my site was rolling before I got here. And yes – I am willing to pay more for extra features but not so willing (at least at this point) to switch over to a new membership plugin for them.

Hi Max, eStore does have a feature to handle this to some extent. It allows your customers to download/redownload the products that hey purchased. See this post for more details on this:

With that said, the purchase history is done with the membership plugin because it adds the layer of security that we want. The security of the digital item is our strong point in the WP eStore plugin. Now the eStore plugin doesn’t do any user management type operation (meaning it doesn’t have a user login system). We didn’t feel comfortable showing download links on a page that isn’t guarded against a good user login system.

We are also developing the following shortcode currenty which can show all the items a customer purchased:
