Is there a “fancy” shortcode that will display the title/description only and NOT the image thumbnail? I saw two version of fancy shortcodes, but it looked like both of them included the image thumbnail in its display.

The issue I’m having is that there are some products that don’t necessarily need a thumbnail so I don’t include one in the backend setup of the product. But when I use the “Fancy” shortcode, the formatting leaves the area blank where a thumbnail “should” be. It looks odd when displayed on the page – the text (description) is all pushed over to the right).

If you can show me what you have in mind (how should the fancy display look exactly) then I might be able to help.

    Please read this post too:

    Hi amin,

    http://dunham-designs.com/wp-content/uploads/2010/04/shortcode.jpg

This is a screen shot of two product entries. The top one is real and has a thumbnail. There really isn’t a product description inside the product listing…but that’s just the way I did it.

The second one is the one I set up to show you what I meant. I didn’t include a thumbnail in the description and purposely included a long description so you can see what I’m talking about. All the description unnecessarily gets pushed over to the right…to make room for a thumbnail that doesn’t exist.

Also, I’m using Firefox and you’ll notice the white-ish border your CSS puts around images is still present along with its ALT tag….but there is no image. So you get this weird little white box at the top of the left side.

It would be great if there was a fancy code that included the description, but not the thumbnail. And the description simply started all the way to the left side like you’d expect. There was no “blank” area for a thumbnail that doesn’t exist.

Thanks for the offer to make a new fancy code. I hope my description makes sense.

Thanks for the explanation… lets finalize this so I can get to working on it.

    So you want two shortcodes:

    1) Exactly like the fancy one except it doesn’t have the thumbnail image so the content starts from the very left

    2) Fancy one that doesn’t have the base price (you could just achieve this one by modifying one line though)

Okay I have added the fancy display without the thumbnail option. The following URL will explain everything:

Is there a shortcode for displaying the fancy4 display for an entire category instead of just one item?

I added the Fancy4 display to see if people like it or not. If there is interest then I can add more shortcodes that uses the fancy4 display option.

I will add another shortcode that lets you display all the products from a particular category using the fancy4 display.

When will you add that? I really like the “view detail” link on this one. It seems to provide the only easy alternative to direct people to alternative views of the product. Thanks.

I was also wondering if any progress has been made on making the “smart thumbnail” application. I saw in an old forum you might be adding this. I loath the thought of having to re-size all of my images in photoshop to square. Lazy I am.

Added a new shortcode for displaying all the products from a particular category using Fancy4 display option:

    [wp_eStore_category_products_fancy4 id=1]

All the shortcode references can be found here:

WP eStore Shortcodes and Functions Reference

Also added the “Smart Thumbnail” feature in eStore. When you use this option (check the in the settings menu) you won’t have to worry about the thumbnail images appearing squashed. This post will help you with how you can get an updated version of the plugin:

The Fancy display 7 or 8 takes the mp3 file URL from the “Digital Product URL” field and doesn’t show any description. My digital product is piano sheet music in pdf format so the product url is not the url for my sample audio mp3. Is there any chance for a fancy 9 that would allow an alternate audio url to be taken from the page where I enter product data and also display a description?

The fancy 7 and 8 display options are for MP3 only. If you are selling a PDF file then use one of the other fancy display options?

But when I click on the link listed in this thread, I do not see where to find the short code I need to make this happen. Not sure if I am missing something or if the link has changed. Can you help?

    Hi,

I’m not sure which link you clicked but as per admin’s previous response the link where you can find the shortcode you need is this one:

    http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-estore-shortcodes-and-functions-reference-460#extra

Then look in the extra shortcodes document which is this one:

    http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-content/uploads/extra-eStore-shortcodes.pdf

Inside that document you will find the shortcode for fancy display with no thumbnails.

NOTE: in order to use the extra shortcodes you will need to download the extra shortcodes plugin (see addon download area in the first link above)
