Customers are not being asked for shipping location during PayPal Checkout, no shipping charges are added to the order. I have double checked that “Use PayPal Profile Based Shipping” is checked. PayPal shipping calculations are set to be weight based. Stopped working after updating to 6.9.7.2 PayPal profile based shipping was working fine before the upgrade. Selling both physical and digital goods, digital goods are set to a shipping weight of .01 in order to not trigger shipping charges. Has worked fine up to now.
February 27, 2013 at 2:56 am #54065adminKeymasterHi, This shouldn’t happen as we didn’t change the profile based shipping feature of eStore recently. Please post a link to the page where you have your products so I can check a few things. You didn’t customize/tweak any code in eStore correct? Did you modify any settings in your PayPal profile recently?

February 27, 2013 at 4:41 am #54067bethalexSpectatorOK totally bizarre but it’s working again. I wonder if PayPal was tweaking something on their end. However, I have economy and priority shipping methods set in my paypal shipping, but when I try a test purchase I’m now only seeing the Priority option.
February 27, 2013 at 8:14 pm #54068bethalexSpectatorIs there no way to show the PayPal shipping options to my customers? I’ve checked all my settings in PayPal and my customers are not being shown the shipping options when they checkout through PayPal.
February 27, 2013 at 10:56 pm #54069adminKeymasterEverything about the profile based shipping is controlled by PayPal. When you tell eStore that you are going to use profile based shipping, it simply gives all the shipping control to PayPal. When you go to the PayPal checkout page and you can see the ability to enter a zipcode, it means profile based shipping is working correctly. I can see this when I checkout your product. If there is some other option that you have configured in your PayPal account and it is not showing up on the PayPal checkout page then please contact PayPal and they will be able to help you. It is likely there is a little mistake in what you have configured in your PayPal account (a paypal support personnel can check what you have in your account and help you with it better).
April 28, 2013 at 8:46 pm #54070sassypants678MemberI am having an interesting error in regards to profile based shipping. It seems to work without a hitch when someone has 2 or more items in their cart. However, the zip code prompt doesn’t appear when they checkout with only one item. Is there a setting that I am missing somewhere that is preventing this from working when there is a single item being processed?
April 29, 2013 at 12:02 am #54071adminKeymasterHi, Users use the Paypal profile based shipping in a few different ways. Lets see which option you are exercising and where something is mis-configured.
Is this *one item* that you are referring to is a “digital item”? Edit this item and check the “shipping” value for this item. Have you specified “0” in there but forgot about it?
Have you specified a minimum quantity in your PayPal profile based shipping?
Could you please post a link to the page where you have placed your products so I can check some details?

All items are non-digital and were given weight values in the database. I do have the use PayPal profile based shipping checked in the settings. As for specifying a minimum quantity, I can’t find where that option would be.
April 29, 2013 at 1:14 am #54073adminKeymasterIt looks like, you have specified the weight of each item to be 2 lbs. So my guess would be that in your PayPal profile you haven’t specified what to charge when the weight amount is less that 3 lbs.
So check your profile based shipping values in your PayPal account and verify that you have a shipping charge specified for when the total weight is 2 lbs. How does you shipping charge vs weight range table look like?
April 29, 2013 at 1:42 am #54074sassypants678MemberLooking into the PayPal account we’re using for the sale, it appears that we had a quantity table set up. However it does appear that we did have a setting for one so I’m not sure why it doesn’t appear. I was under the impression that the shipping was being calculated by weight and the zip codes, but it looks like I still have to specify rates if I do that. I have no problem keeping the chart for quantity, and if you could provide some insight as to what I may have in wrong it would be greatly appreciated.
From – To – Rate
1 – 1 – 3
2 – 2 – 5
3 – 5 – 7
6 – 8 – 9
9 – and up – 10
April 29, 2013 at 2:45 am #54075adminKeymasterThe quantity chart will take precedence I think. If you want to do shipping based on weight, then try turning off the quantity rate and only keep the weight based rate active in your PayPal account.
April 29, 2013 at 3:22 am #54076sassypants678MemberWill the weight be automatically calculated if I go that route? If not, it kind of defeats the purpose. If there’s a way the shipping can be calculated with the total weight and zip codes, that would be ideal. Otherwise, if there’s a way to get it to work with single quantity orders, that would work just fine.
April 29, 2013 at 11:04 pm #54077adminKeymasterYes, the total shipping can be calculated with the total weight and zip code. The plugin will calculate the weight of all the items in the cart and send that to PayPal when a user checks out. You should be able to use it with the quantity or with the weight. I am not sure why you are trying to do both at the same time?
I checked the code to make sure the plugin is submitting the quantity and weight info when it goes to PayPal. I can’t see what you have done in your PayPal account profile so I am not 100% as to why for 1 item checkout, it isn’t triggering the profile shipping.
Can you please quickly change your profile shipping rates to a weight based one and see how that goes?
April 29, 2013 at 11:26 pm #54078sassypants678MemberI have gone ahead and done this, removing the quantity chart that was there previously. I left in defaults for what was asked for me via weight, ensuring that the “Override shipping methods per transaction” box was checked. It still appears to be behaving the same way however.
