OK, I have a free (price = 0.0) offer for some people, and want to offer a serial key thru the estore. But when I test it, the serial key does not get sent.
It’s a digital product, and what I notice is that the one email I get as a buyer is NOT generated from the Buyer Email template, so adding {serial_key} had no effect. It seems that the download link email is generated from somewhere else.
Ultimately I have two goals:
Sell a serial key only (free or paid)
Sell a digital download/serial key combined.
I have tested with and without the download url, but in niether case is a serial key sent from the pool.
Help!

Is is through the cart or a “buy now button,” with a zero price, or is it through a a “squeeze page form” or “download now button?”
December 5, 2012 at 6:30 pm #52036ed4beckyMemberSqueeze page form.
I’ve tried two things.
Squeeze page form for download and serial key together
and squeeze page form for the serial key only (they already downloaded previously with an inbuilt trial key)
December 6, 2012 at 1:38 am #52037adminKeymasterOkay I see the issue now. You are testing/using the squeeze form. Serial key code doesn’t work with the squeeze form
Serial key is given to a customer when he/she purchase a digital item that has serial key.
If you want to give serial key for free then use option 1 mentioned in the following post:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/selling-items-for-00-giving-product-for-free
Option 1 will still allow you to do a purchase transaction only it will be free for your case.
December 6, 2012 at 2:43 pm #52038ed4beckyMemberCan the ‘automatically send download link’ for manual checkout be applied at the product level?
December 7, 2012 at 5:34 am #52039adminKeymasterNo that option can’t be set on a per product basis. If you have a free product, is there any need to have a serial key for it?
Our serial key feature is for “Selling a serial key”. We don’t have a “Give away serial key for free” feature which is why you are hitting this issue.
December 7, 2012 at 12:24 pm #52040ed4beckyMemberI can work around it.
December 14, 2012 at 2:10 am #52041ed4beckyMemberFollowup question – can manual checkout be disallowed at the product level?
December 14, 2012 at 2:18 pm #52042wzpModeratorPayment gateways, whether they be manual, PayPal or other, cannot be selected, enabled or disabled on a per item basis. The only options are:
* Seller predetermines which payment gateway to use for all sales.
* Allow buyer choice of payment gateway on a per total sale basis.
* Force zero cost total sales to use manual checkout.
Alternatively, you could use a “Buy Now” type button for your products if you want to have a product specific checkout for that 1 item directly. This post will explain the difference:
