Everything looks okay? Except download link does not work.
I cannot generate them through the admin either. (Instructions on this are sorely lacking)
But, I have checked the addresses thoroughly and they work if I paste them into a new browser tab.
Any help would be a godsend!
Thanks for reading
Henry
November 10, 2012 at 3:12 am #51201adminKeymasterHi Henry, Can you please copy and paste the stuff you placed in the “Digital Variation” field of this product? (I will delete this info after investigation).
Also, please post a link to the page where you have the product.
Do you have any product without a digital variation? If you do, does the encrypted download on that product work?
November 11, 2012 at 1:59 pm #51202henrypParticipantOk great, thanks for the reply.
This is all of the text I have placed in the Digital Variation field in eStore:
-|MP3::http://www.rerdownloads.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/mp3/Bad_Boys/Caged/01_Bad_Boys-Ten_Ten.mp3|FLAC::0.30::http://www.rerdownloads.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/flac/Bad_Boys/Caged/01_Bad Boys-Ten_Ten.flac
Here is a link to the product page:
As for your last question I do not at this time have any digital products without a digital variation. The only ones that do not have digital variations are the ones which are not to download
hope that is helpful info. I’ll be online all today to reply further
thanks!
Henry
November 11, 2012 at 2:55 pm #51203henrypParticipantOkay, the link IS showing on the email but not on the Thank You page I created. Still unable to generate as well
November 11, 2012 at 10:46 pm #51204PeterMemberHi,
Now that you say you can see the download link in the email, does this link actually work – ie, can you successfully download the file?
Also did you follow the instructions on this page when setting up the encrypted links on thank you page?
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/wp-estore-instant-digital-product-delivery-499
Are you specifying a variation name when you are trying to manually generate a link from the admin dashboard? Product that have variation will need the variation name to generate a link successfully.
November 13, 2012 at 11:10 am #51205henrypParticipantYes, I have successfully downloaded the file.
I followed the instructions on the page you just sent the link to. I read and followed them again just to make sure. It is still not displaying the link on the Thank You page.
One thing I have not done is set up Auto Return on paypal (due to my client having many websites and one Paypal account) but this should not affect the link displaying.
As for the manually generating the link, this is still unclear to me. In Admin, in the Digital Product Variation Name field I am putting in the WHOLE variation link. Should I just put the name of the file? Only the ‘variation name’ as you put it?
It still does not generate the link
November 13, 2012 at 1:31 pm #51206wzpModeratorJust the variation name.
November 13, 2012 at 5:53 pm #51207henrypParticipantI have put the variation name…in lots of different ways.
My product here is an mp3 file
The variation is a flac file
They both have the same name, only they use different file extensions. That is the variation.
Here is the text as it is in the Digital Product Variation field on the product page:
-|MP3::http://www.rerdownloads.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/mp3/Bad_Boys/Caged/01_Bad_Boys-Ten_Ten.mp3|FLAC::0.30::http://www.rerdownloads.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/flac/Bad_Boys/Caged/01_Bad_Boys-Ten_Ten.flac
The variation is this part – FLAC::0.30::http://www.rerdownloads.com/wp-content/uploads/downloads/flac/Bad_Boys/Caged/01_Bad_Boys-Ten_Ten.flac
I have typed every possible variation of this to no avail, including just the track title, with or without spaces, the whole thing, only the URL. Im stumped sorry
November 14, 2012 at 3:37 am #51208adminKeymasterYes, you need to enable “Auto Return” for PayPal PDT to work (this is required to get payment data on the thank you page so the links can be displayed there). It doesn’t matter if the client has many websites as eStore will override that value for this site at the time of transaction. If you read this post it will explain more on it :
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/wp-estore-and-paypal-profile-settings
How to Generate Link:
1) Enter a value in the “Product ID” field
2) Enter the variation name in the “Digital Product Variation Name” field (example: FLAC)
I would recommend you to try and reload the eStore plugin before you try the link generation from admin dashboard:

November 15, 2012 at 2:45 pm #51209henrypParticipantOk thanks for replying again.
I have just been reading that post you linked. Someone, Ivy, says :
“When “Auto Redirect” is turned on PayPal does not post the data needed by the eStore to display the links on the “Post Payment/Thank You Page”. PayPal only sends this information when the “Return to Merchant button or link is clicked. Remember the eStore will never display or send out the links if the sale can not be fully verified.”
So now I am not sure. I guess I can test it though.
Everything still seems rather unclear about the URL on the Auto Return Paypal function. Say my client has 3 sites, if 1 site has specified a link to return to..then surely the other 2 would now have to have their own return pages specified also…right?
November 16, 2012 at 3:19 am #51210adminKeymasterThere is a section called “Displaying Links on the Thank You Page” (its bold so you can easily see it) in the following post. It tells you what to do exactly for PayPal settings when you want to display the links on the thank you page:
It says to do the following:
Payment Data Transfer (PDT): On
Auto return: On (use the URL of your Thank You page)
See how it says to turn on Auto return? Do that please. When you turn on “auto return” PayPal will ask you for a URL value. Use the URL of your Thank You page in there. It also explains how eStore will override this URL on a per site basis.
This is the only way PayPal sends data to the “thank you” page so links can be displayed there. If this PayPal setup doesn’t work for you then you don’t show links on the thank you page. Showing links on the thank you page is an optional step (your customers will get the links via email regardless).
