Hi!
I’m using [wp_eStore_display_transaction_result] Shortcode on my Thank You page. When I receive the transaction result, I get several characters.
My site is in Spanish and all the text on the website and around the Shorcode is displayed ok using Spanish characters like á, é, í, ó, ú. In fact, everything is working fine, except for the text generatd by the Shortcode. I use Google inspection on page and I find that Charset is UTF-8. I try the fix on https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/some-characters-and-text-not-recognizable-in-the-notification-email and enabled UTF-8 formatting in my PayPal profile, but I’m still receiving the same characters.
The text on the page looks like this:
Gracias, su pago se ha completado con éxito y le hemos enviado un recibo de su compra por correo electrónico. Para ver los detalles de la transacción, inicie sesión en su cuenta PayPal.
Has solicitado los siguientes productos:
Anticipo Curso SMC Vespertino – Este producto no tiene ningn contenido descargable
Coste Total: $1.00
ID de la compra: 3CW170070Y0526603
Deberas recibir en breve un recibo de confirmacin de tu pago y una copia de esta informacin de descarga en tu correo electrnico
The URL is: Removed after checking.
Any idea what can I do to fix this?
Thank you.
January 15, 2020 at 12:18 am #80243adminKeymasterDid you do new transaction AFTER the UTF-8 option was enabled in your PayPal account? Please note that old transactions you did when the UTF-8 option wasn’t enabled won’t just change automatically.
Also, if you made some changes to the translation file it needs to be converted to UTF-8. The following page has a section for it. The section is labeled “Note for Non-English Language Users”:

One other question for you. Did you upload the original plugin via the WordPress’s plugin uploader or did you use FTP to transfer the files? If you used FTP then was it done using Binary mode?

-Yes, I did a new transaction after the UTF-8 option was enabled in my PayPal account and the behavior was the same.
-I uploaded the original plugin via the WordPress’s plugin uploader.
-I did not made any changes to the translation files.
How I fixed the issue:
I use the File Manager in my hosting CPanel and searched the file “../plugins/wp-cart-for-digital-products/languages/spa.php”
I opened the file with Code Editor inside File Manager. When the file was opened, the upper bar in the editor showed that the file was encoded using Windows-1252 encoding, so I changed the encoding to UTF-8 using the dropdown option and click the Reopen button. The Code Editor then showed all the characters on the Spanish specific charcters (á, é, í, etc) so I replaced the characters with the correct ones and saved the file.
Everything is working fine right now.
Thank you !
