G’day, Site info copied below.
I’ve read in the forum on Site setup and PayPal retries, I can’t see anything in the logs around why PayPal is retrying, but every sale also has two entries in the Customer log.
After a clean install / reset of the plugins the same thing is happening.
On the second time around it shows an error saying that the record already exists.
Thanks in advance.

[11/23/2013 8:01 PM] – FAILURE :The transaction ID and the email address already exists in the database. So this seems to be a duplicate transaction notification. This usually happens with bad server setup.

November 23, 2013 at 9:54 pm #59171adminKeymasterThis issue has more to do with server setup/config. Please read the following post and you will see more related info:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/multiple-sales-record-and-mails-for-one-sales
The way you have it now is good enough though (eStore won’t process a sale twice even if it receives the notification multiple times).
November 25, 2013 at 9:06 pm #59172orangesandsMemberPlot thickens, I’ve been receiving the email notifications of the sales, including the email to the customer, but they’re not receiving the emails.
I have full control of the server with a root based VPS and am happy diving into the various configurations of webserver etc but can’t see what could be causing the first response to PayPal to be something other than 200 which it gets on the second try a minute later.
Any hints on what to deeper dive into would be greatly appreciated.
While i certainly understand the plugin is reacting to inputs as designed any insight into what other folks have had to fix would be really useful based on similar threads I’ve seen.
Thanks in advance,
Shane Lowry
November 26, 2013 at 12:27 am #59173adminKeymasterHi Shane, The following post should help you sort out the email issue on this server:
If there is a HTTP error then paypal usually sends the IPN again (thinking that the first one failed). Now the HTTP error can happen for many many reason on the server. This is something only your hosting provider will be able to address. If you look at the post I shared earlier has some discussions around this issue but it is a rare issue. This doesn’t happen very often.
