Hello forum community.
In the past I have built sites from scratch but I have decided to make my first venture into WordPress. So far so good until now.
I purchased a theme from TemplateMonster.com. You can see the theme here [http://www.templatemonster.com/demo/45687.html]. Unfortunately I cannot share a link to my WordPress site because I have it installed locally.
Before I explain my issue I should tell you I have not modified the code.
I have installed and successfully activated the WP eStore Plugin Version 1.9.8.2. I believe I am having conflicting lightbox issues between the WP eStore and the theme I am using. When I click on a thumbnail for a product I am selling it opens in it’s own page rather that inside the lightbox. Also, when I click on a thumbnail on my homepage (not a WP eStore image) this image also opens in it’s own page rather than in the theme lightbox. If I deactivate the WP eStore plugin the home page image lightbox works again.
I am also having other issues that I believe may or may not be caused by the lightbox incompatibility.
For instance, I cannot see the “Additional Product” images thumbnails. Since the lightbox is failing I cannot open an image and scroll through all the images.
This issue may not be related but in regards to the product variation. For “Product Variation 1” I entered “Finish|Gunmetal|Chrome|Satin|24K Gold:2”. When I look at it in the eStore it looks fine. However when I select “24K Gold” It does not increase the “price” by $2 bucks. However if I add it to the cart I see the correct price with the additional 2 bucks.
Thank you in advance for your help.
November 22, 2013 at 12:41 pm #59134mbrsolutionSpectatorHello mguise, Load a fresh new copy of the plugin first:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
If the new version does not fix your issue, can you provide more details to help us troubleshoot your problem. For example.
1) What are you running Mamp, xampp Wamp?
2) Are you running a Mac or Windows?
3) What version of PHP, MySQL are you runnig?
4) What version of WordPress are you running?
5) Did you try to deactivate all other plugins and only run WP eStore by its self?
6) Did you try to run a different theme like the default that comes with WordPress?
Kind regards
November 22, 2013 at 5:11 pm #59135mguiseMemberHello mbrsolution
I was able to successfully update the WP eStore Plugin. Unfortunately I am still having the same problems.
I am running XAMPP 1.8.3-1 on a Mac OS X 10.8.5. I am using PHP 5.5.3. and MySQL 5.6.12. I am also using WordPress version 3.7.1
I did deactivate all other plugins and only run WP eStore by itself with no success.
When I changed to the Twenty Thirteen and the Twenty Twelve themes the lightbox for the images on the homepage failed. I expected this as I believe these were tied to the lightbox for the theme45687 I am using.
When I changed to the Twenty Thirteen and the Twenty Twelve themes the lightbox for the images in the store failed. Rather, when I clicked on the thumbnail for the product I was selling it opened the image in a separate page.
When I changed to the Twenty Thirteen and the Twenty Twelve themes I still could not see the “Additional Product” thumbs.
When I changed to the Twenty Thirteen and the Twenty Twelve themes, in regards to “Product Variation 1”, when I selected “24K Gold” the price was successfully updated. So that worked.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer.
November 22, 2013 at 11:01 pm #59136wpCommerceModerator@mguise, I believe there is a JavaScript conflict somewhere. But I can’t tell you exactly where this is coming from unless I can view the page.
November 22, 2013 at 11:03 pm #59137adminKeymasterDo you have the “Enable Smart Thumbnail Option” feature checked by any chance? If you do, please turn that off then check it.
Can you put your site on a live server (not localhost install) so we can view the HTML source? It is nearly impossible to see what could be causing an issue if we can’t see the HTML source of your site.
December 6, 2013 at 5:10 am #59138mguiseMemberOk, sorry bout the delay but I finally made the site live. You can see it here.

You can see the shopping page here

admin I do not have the “Enable Smart Thumbnail Option” feature checked.
Thanks in advance for all of your help
December 6, 2013 at 10:29 pm #59139wpCommerceModeratorHi, I can see the following JavaScript error coming from your theme:
Uncaught TypeError: Property '$' of object [object Object] is not a function custom.js?ver=1.0:26 [http://www.butchswoodshed.com/wp-content/themes/CherryFramework/js/custom.js?ver=1.0]
Can you please do a theme test to see if it changes anything:

You can also check for errors using the method explained here:

December 9, 2013 at 10:24 pm #59140mguiseMemberHi wpCommerce
Please take a look at the previous notes above. I switched to the default WordpPress theme and the results are above. I also checked the plugins and the results are above as well.
I’m new to this WordPress world (my first website) and I made my first rookie mistake. I bought a third party theme (they appear reputable, Template Monster) and now I am stuck. Therefore I have read the suggested articles and I thank you for directing me to them.
Initially I was going to request more help from you but I have found enough errors in this theme that I am going after the developer.
What a disappointment as my goal was to switch from the time suck life of building a site from scratch to the ease of WordPress.
If you see anything specific that could be a culprit to my errors please let me know.
Thanks for all of your help.
December 10, 2013 at 2:48 am #59141mguiseMemberLooks like I will be dropping the theme all together. I can’t wait to make that call to the client.
Do you have any suggestions as to where I should look for themes that support your plugin. That I can trust.
December 10, 2013 at 2:58 am #59142mguiseMemberAlso, I ran the tests and found errors. Template Monster said that they do not guarantee plugins from a third party so I am under the impression they are not going to help.
Should I scrap the theme or do you think we can do anything to make WP eStore work with this theme?
…if we can’t do anything with the theme do you know of a good source of properly coded themes that we can work with if any problems arise?
December 10, 2013 at 5:09 am #59143adminKeymasterAsk them why the theme has coding errors. Javascript errors that are coming from the theme has got nothing to do with a 3rd party plugin or anything. A theme SHOULD NOT have any coding errors in it.
What theme will work? Any properly coded theme will work with our plugin. Basically a theme that doesn’t have coding errors will do fine.
Any themes that you can get from WordPress’s theme directory/repository should work fine.
I would recommend using a theme from a reputable developer though. Or use the WordPress’s Default themes (2010, 2011, 2012, 2013, 2014 etc). I personally avoid buying anything from a marketplace (there tends to be a lot of junk stuff in marketplaces because no one takes responsibility).
December 11, 2013 at 10:33 pm #59144mguiseMemberThanks for your advise Admin, going forward I will use the WordPress’s Default themes. I’m finding that you are stuck with only the choice of the marketplace plugins if you use their template.
A Senior Specialist from Template Monster advised me to update to the newest version of Cherry which is the framework for theme45687. This seemed to resolve some of my issues.
When I click on a thumbnail on my homepage (not a WP eStore image) this image now opens in the theme lightbox. So that works properly.
Product variation now works fine with the theme running and the WP eStore.
However, when I run the theme45687, and I click on a thumbnail for a product I am selling it still opens in it’s own page rather that inside the lightbox.
When I run the theme45687, I still cannot see the “Additional Product” images thumbnails. Since the lightbox is failing I cannot open an image and scroll through all the images.
When I deactivate all other plugins and only ran WP eStore by itself the lightbox for the images in the store failed. Rather, when I clicked on the thumbnail for the product I was selling it opened the image in a separate page.
Again when I deactivated all other plugins and only ran WP eStore by itself I still could not see the “Additional Product” thumbs.
Again when I changed to the Twenty Thirteen and the Twenty Twelve themes the lightbox for the images in the store failed. Rather, when I clicked on the thumbnail for the product I was selling it opened the image in a separate page.
Again when I changed to the Twenty Thirteen and the Twenty Twelve themes I still could not see the “Additional Product” thumbs.
Since these problems continue after I deactivate the plugins and switch to the default theme my instinct tells me this may not be related to the marketplace theme.
Can you please take a good close look. Thank you.
December 12, 2013 at 2:18 am #59145adminKeymasterIt doesn’t look like you have the “Enable Lightbox effect on Images” checked in your eStore settings. Enable that option and then try it.
December 12, 2013 at 5:32 am #59146mguiseMemberGreat! That worked on the thumb image. One last problem. Please take a look at the following web page.
I would like it to look like the “Demo Photo” example with the selection of really small thumbs on the bottom.
I thought if I included images in the variation it would do that but it doesn’t seem to work. Am I missing something. Any ideas as how to make that work?
December 12, 2013 at 5:46 am #59147mbrsolutionSpectatorHello mguise have a look at all the different templates you can use from the link below.
In your request the shortcode will look like this. Make sure you change the ID number.
[wp_eStore_fancy10 id=1]
Here is a link with all the different shortcodes just in case you need to view them.
Kind regards
