Hello,
Using Paypal system and eStore plugin, can we offer the option for the customer to pay in 3 or 4 times for a product ?
For example, the product costs 99 euros.
I want to give 2 options :
1. Payment is 1 time 99 euros
2. Payment is set to 3 times : 33 euros this month, 33 euros next month and the final 33 euros following month.
Can we offer that option with eStore plugin ?
How does it work ?
Any video tutorial ?
Best regards,
Bertrand
May 2, 2014 at 2:22 am #62653wzpModeratorYes, Payments like that is processed using a subscription payment button. Check the following documentation:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/ecommerce/how-to-add-a-subscription-button-for-recurring-payment-400
But is this for a physical product? I’m not sure how you might handle this, after the subscription has started…
May 5, 2014 at 2:00 am #62654bertrand kervellaMemberHello,
Thanks for pointing me to the right direction.
I could find very helpful videos.
Actually it s for a digital product.
I have 2 more questions about the recurrent payment option, if you dont mind:
1. Let’s say I offer a 3 times payment for a digital product.
Customer buys the product with Paypal, but once he gets access to the product, can he stops the next 2 payments easily?
Do I have a protection that the next 2 payment will be made?
2. If the customer buys 1 time, Paypal offers the credit card payment option.
With the recurrent payment it seems that the only option is Paypal payment and no credit card…
Can’t I use the credit card option with recurrent payment?
Thanks for your great support.
Best regards,
Bertrand

Sure, all he has to do is login to his PayPal profile and cancel the subscription.

Not really. If you are selling a software product, you could embed a self destruct mechanism. It’s legal but has not been popular, for obvious reasons.

A subscription can be purchased with a credit card also. Perhaps you do not have the enhanced recurring payment option enabled in your PayPal account. You can ask paypal support to enable that option. PayPal only offers credit cart checkout for subscription if you enable the enhanced recurring billing option.
Since we are talking about a digital product, and not a service; it there a particular reason why you can’t just let them make one payment on a credit card? If they want to make installment payments, they can make monthly payments to their own card; although they will be charged an interest fee by their card issuer for that convenience.

Thanks for your detailed answer.
I m offering 2 or 3 times payment so it’s easier for people to buy the product.
The price feels cheaper then.
I dont understand what you mean by “installment payments”.
Is it the same as recurring payment?
How does it work?
Thanks for your great support

May 7, 2014 at 5:25 pm #62657bertrand kervellaMemberHello again,
I went into the eStore_advanced_configs.php to force the language into FR = French
Now I have everything in French which is great, but it seems that the credit card payment is not available anymore.
Even to buy in 1 time…
Here is the payment page :
It says “Créez un compte PayPal. Et payez par carte bancaire” which means “Create a Paypal account. And pay by credit card”
How I can make the credit card payment option available?
Do I have to ask directly to Paypal or can I fix it through eStore plugin?
Thanks
Bertrand
May 8, 2014 at 2:07 am #62658adminKeymasterHi Bertrand, This is something controlled by PayPal. If you enabled enhanced recurring billing feature in your PayPal account and the credit card payment option for subscription checkout is not appearing, then ask PayPal support a question so they can look into your merchant account profile.
May 8, 2014 at 4:22 am #62659bertrand kervellaMemberHello Key,
I just called Paypal and I explained them the situation.
They said : to get the credit card payment option, I have to subscribe to the “web payment +” Paypal service which cost about $30 per month.
They said that it will work only with the 1 time payment.
The recurring payment only works with payment through Paypal… This is what they said.
What do you think?
May 8, 2014 at 4:49 am #62660wzpModeratorWhat country are you in? I’ve never heard of such a fee.
May 8, 2014 at 2:50 pm #62661bertrand kervellaMemberMy paypal account is based in Japan.
The person spoke good English and I repeated what he said so he could confirm that was right…
According to him, it takes almost 1 month to install that web payment + service.
Probably Japan has its own rules.
What about the plugin that enable credit card payment system within the site?
Would that work ?
May 9, 2014 at 1:32 am #62662adminKeymasterYeah PayPal has another service called PayPal Payments Pro. It lets you process the credit card on your site. We have an addon that can do PayPal Payments Pro checkout. You can find more details from the following link:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/wp-payment-gateway-bundle-plugin
You can also use the stripe payment gateway. They have a good subscription checkout too. Not sure if Stripe offers account in Japan though.
October 9, 2014 at 2:16 pm #62663bertrand kervellaMemberHello,
I checked with Japanese Paypal staff to add the credit card payment option, on my sales page.
Here is their answer :
“I’ve heard that you are considering using Web Payment Pro.
Unfortunately, Web Payment Pro is a service that is offered only in US and Canada and not in Japan.
We have Web Payment Plus (WPP) that is similar to Web Payment Pro.
If the platform you are using supports WPP, Please consider the service.”
So does eStore or any add on plugin supports Web Payment Plus (WPP)?
And how to install it?
If you have any suggestion, videos or tutoriel, I’d be pleased to have it.
Thanks a lot, for your always great support.
Bertrand
