eMember – Using email address instead of a username

Is it possible to use a person’s email address instead of having them enter in a username?

I’m also curious if it’s possible to not have to send a confirmation email and just have the user already have access to everything they would have access to, that way people don’t need to go to their email and click a link. I know that people may give us fake emails in this case and am not really sure if that’s the way to go yet, but if it’s not possible/difficult to implement then that makes the decision for me.
