Hi there
Is it possible to reduce some required fields for members to register and login by using their email address rather then a user name?
I’m also asking this because I’ve integrated Zen-Cart into my site which uses email addresses for logins.
Thanks for any pointers
Wolf
The following 3 fields are the absolute minimum for any membership signup for eMember (this is so it can be correlated with WordPress users/roles database.. WordPress requires these 3 fields).
Username
Password
Email
You can do code tweaking to allow users to enter their email address in the “username” field but then some features may not work as expected. For example, if you want to integrate the members with affiliate plugin it will need the username (not an email address).
Here are some example posts where users have done some tweaking to open the username field:

Is there a way to hide the Username field and behind-the-scenes automatically populate that value with what the user inputs for the Email field?
A “custom addon” already exists, that will auto-populate the user name field with the email address. It is only available by request:
Hello. May I please request access to this existing custom addon? Thank you in advance, much appreciated.
Hi, Are you referring to the following addon?

I’d like to use the custom addon that will auto-populate the user name field with the email address, which is only available by request, per the comment that is a bit above. Thanks!
I have sent it to you.
Please note that the addon was created for one particular user as a custom job. He has an specific requirement which this custom addon solved. It doesn’t mean that it will solve your particular situation also. So it may need some additional customisation based on your needs.
Roger that. I appreciate your help.
PS – Sorry it took me awhile to reply, I was away the last couple of days.
