My client’s site is showing “security check failed on login” errors regularly and blocking logins. I have uploaded a fresh version of the plugin each time it happens, and the problem goes away for a few days.

The error is preceded by a member logging in and another member’s information being displayed in the widget. This might indicate a database problem, but if that is so, why would a fresh copy “cure” it, if only for a few days?

The only changes to the site during this period are the normal updating of pages (there is no blog). No programming, no new plugins, nothing that might be the “normal” cause of problems.

My client is getting upset and impatient with the repeated failure of the site’s membership feature, and I need to find a solution to this problem pronto.

    Thanks,

    Mike

Hi Mike, It looks like this site is using a caching plugin. Which caching plugin is this site using?

W3 Total Cache, but the problems started before the plugin was installed. I read somewhere on this site that W3 Total Cache was preferred for eMember.

Please do the following and then you should be good.

Is your cache clearing interval set to less than 24 hours? You need to use a cache clearing value of less than 24 hours to make sure the security value doesn’t get stale.

I am getting the same problem on a new site created in April and launched last week. Was fine during beta testing but some new members are getting the “Security check failed on registration” error in several different browsers. The site uses Wordfence Security’s cache system.
