How do I prevent images on protected pages from being seen if a non logged in member finds out the direct url of the image?
For example, currently the image at: [http://www.sitename.com/?attachment_id=123] is visible by putting that url in the browser, despite the fact that the image resides on a protected page.
For example, on your demo site, the image:
http://www.tipsandtricks-hq.com/eMember-demo/wp-content/uploads/2009/09/random-photo-2.JPG
is visible via the url, even though it is not visible when it appears on a protected page at:

You can protect your attachements via emember too. From your media libary, edit the image in question then you will see the eMember protection option for that image/attachment.
Read the following documentation to learn the various media file protection options we have (we have solutions ranging from simple to hardcore for media file protection):
You just gotta decide how much protection you want for your media files (given your userbase).
Note: We don’t protect files on our example demo site which is why you can see those files.
I’ve tried to protect the PDF, Excel and Word files on my site using the options in the Media Library but for some reason they aren’t remembered after I’ve saved it. ANy reason why this would happen?
Did you try loading a fresh copy of the plugin?
