I have set up a renewal page for existing members on my site to renew their membership. When members renew they are able to pay via Paypal and the charge goes through normally. However, the eMember plugin is not recognizing their email and automatically updating their membership in the system. So we are having to go back in to the membership list and update their membership manually.
As part of addressing this issue, I am attempting to get the settings for Paypal sandbox integration working, but can’t seem to get the login portion on the payment page to work correctly. I have enabled the “Enable Sandbox Testing” checkbox on the settings page and, when I click the PayPal button on my site, I am forwarded to the Paypal payment page, but get stopped there as I can’t login with the sandbox buyer test account. The buyer test account is set up with the same information on both the Paypal sandbox account and my website (i.e., same email address, same login info, etc.), but I just keep getting login errors – “Email: Please make sure you have entered your email address correctly.” and “PayPal password: Please re-enter your PayPal password.”
Any help to get me ‘unstuck’ would be greatly appreciated.

April 8, 2015 at 6:03 am #69464THayesMemberAfter a lot of fiddling and Googling, I figured out that the issue with getting sandbox to work was due to the fact the Paypal buttons I was using were created in Paypal – not the Paypal sandbox. When you are testing registrations in sandbox, you need to set up separate sandbox buttons

I’m adding this just in case someone else encounters that same issue. Hopefully they won’t have to spend a few days fighting their way through this as well.
September 19, 2015 at 8:10 pm #69465rrestaniMemberThank you THayes!! no where in WP eMember documentation does it explain this. Everything refers to eStore setup which is another product and the setups are not the same.
Pretty lame of them. Anyway* I’m glad I found your post.*Moderated for: “Abusing the support resources.”

September 20, 2015 at 12:14 am #69466adminKeymasterSetting up PayPal sandbox can be a little challenging if you are not a developer. It is best to just do a live transaction for testing. You can create a test button for $0.01 or something like that then do a test transaction.
September 20, 2015 at 1:14 am #69467rrestaniMemberI am a developer but what makes it difficult is improper documentation on how paypal sandbox interfaces with your plugin. Paypal sandbox was has been easy and I have used it with other plugins and webistes just fine.
September 20, 2015 at 3:27 am #69468adminKeymasterThere is only ONE way the Paypal sandbox works. It doesn’t interface any differently with our plugin. What do you mean by it interfaces differently? There is only ONE type of API for it.
