MemberHi,
Using WP eMembers 8.7.4, when a new user creates an account, if their email address contains an uppercase character or a + (popular among gmail users for tracking how sites are using emails) you get “email address is not valid”.
Can this be fixed? In particular the uppercase problem – can any uppercase be changed to lowercase automatically?
Thanks,
Jonathan.

MemberHi,
The plugin will accept upper/lower case characters and also the “+” symbol with no issues.
Can you please provide a link to your registration page so we can try a test?

MemberI just a tried a test registration on your site and I can see what you mean.
Can you please try deactivating and deleting your current version of eMember and downloading the latest version using the instructions in this link:
Then try again and see if that fixes it.

MemberThat’s strange because I did a registration on my test site with the latest eMember version using UPPER and lower case characters and also the “+” and all works fine.
Just to make sure, did you clear your browser case to make sure we don’t have a JavaScript caching issue?
If clearing the cache doesn’t help then can you please try the following tests to see if your theme or another plugin is interfering with the signup form?

MemberI’ve just created a completely fresh site, no plugins apart from WP eMember, Twenty Thirteen as the theme.
Used a machine that hasn’t touched the other site, still cannot use + or uppercase in the email address.
Note that you can use both in the create a free account registration if you have set it to require confirmation, but when you return to confirm your account it won’t let you.

KeymasterWe applied some email address validation enhancements to the plugin which should get rid of this issue. I have sent you an update via email.
