eMember – Need Manual Setup for New Members and Automatic setup for Renewals

I have designed a number of websites with eStore and eMember and love the software.

However, I have run into an issue that I cannot answer:

I have one client who wishes to have all their NEW members on “MANUAL Approval” because their credentials have to be checked. However, they do not need (or wish) to check the credentials of any renewing members, so would like to have “AUTOMATIC Approval” for any of their existing members who renew.

I know how to do one or the other, but how do I set up for both options at the same time?

The following procedure, requires accounts to be manually approved, when they first register:

Once they are approved, they’re account status goes from Pending to Active. As long as they renew their accounts before the expiration; they should not require subsequent approvals.
