If you have a membership site where you want to manually approve each membership then configure it using the steps outlined in this post:

    1. Enable Manual Approval

Check the following option to enable manual membership approval on your site:

WP eMember Settings -> Manually Approve Member Registration

When this feature is enabled, the user’s account is set to “pending” until the admin goes into eMember dashboard, reviews the application (member details) then set the status to active.

    2. Change the Registration Complete Email

Go to the following email settings area to customize the email that gets sent out when someone registers on your site:

WP eMember Settings -> Email Settings -> Registration Complete Email Settings

Use a message like the following in the email body (the user will get this email message when they register):

We have received your membership application. We will review it and notify you when the account is approved.

    3. Approve the Membership

You (the admin) can go to the manage members menu and review the member’s application by clicking the “edit” link for the member record in question.

    a) Review the details of the user.

    b) If you want to approve the member, simply set the status to “active”.

    c) Optionally, check the “Send a Notification to the User” checkbox and enter your email message (if you want to notify the member about their account approval).

    d) Save the member’s record.
