I have been testing my eMember installation (v8.9.5.1) and two quirks have appeared with the registration process:
1) the second (longer) registration screen asking for a user name and password seems to “remember” emails that have ever been used on the site. During my tests I have used different emails to create member accounts and even after I delete the member (and the associated email), it seems to remember it and call that email “invalid” from that point forward.
2) Then, even when I try to put in a different email (after the “invalid email” message appears), it won’t let me delete the email that has been prepopulated (from the short registration form) into the email field on that second longer registration form page. I can’t even put my cursor into that field.
Is there something I’m missing in the set up or is this a bug? Thanks so much for your help!
December 6, 2015 at 3:14 pm #72035wzpModeratorPlease check your WordPress user accounts for the email addresses you are having trouble with. Also, are you using any other plugins that might be “saving” email addresses?

December 9, 2015 at 5:32 am #72036teddijensenMemberThanks for the suggestion. One of the problem emails was in the user area, so that explains that. However, the other issue remains that when a person puts in an invalid email it doesn’t let you go in and enter a new one. It freezes you out of making any changes, even though it says, please use a different email.
We have Bloom and WP Affiliate installed, but neither are activated and collecting emails.
Any thoughts? Thanks – A
December 10, 2015 at 6:08 am #72037adminKeymasterIs this for the “Free Members Must Confirm Email Address” feature? Remember, when you enable that feature, you are basically wanting the plugin to verify the email address. You can’t enter one address to verify then come back and enter a different one to complete the registration. That totally defeats the purpose of that feature.
If you want to allow that behavior then it means you don’t need to verify the address. Turn that feature off and you won’t have the issue you explained.
December 12, 2015 at 8:25 pm #72038teddijensenMemberWell, that does fix the problem, but not ideally! If I still want them to verify the email on the second full registration form and the person makes a mistake, the system still does not allow them to change the email address. I just don’t think the process is functioning as intended. Then again, I could be totally out to lunch!
If you try to register for a free membership on a site that requires email confirmation, try making a mistake in the second registration form and see what the system does.
December 12, 2015 at 11:39 pm #72039adminKeymasterIf you made a mistake, then you complete the original form again (with the corrected email).
Remember, the user can always change their email after they register (by editing their profile).
The plugin just won’t let you register using email address B if you clicked on the link from email inbox of A.
