Hi,
Dig the eMember very much. I having a strange issue with the content protection. I have a site I’m developing and the Pages will be accessible to the public and POST will be accessible to members only. Easy enough right. I assumed that if I set the protection for the CATEGORIES, all my post will be protected as long as they fall under those categories. I have set the protection on the individual post as well, just to see if I could resolve the issue.
Now it seems that when a Post has the ‘More Tag’ it will display the content above the ‘More Tag’ like a Teaser, and display no content below the ‘More Tag’. However, I have the ‘Enable More Tag Protection’ turn off. So I’m assuming that all content should be protected, regardless if a ‘More Tag’ is used or not.
If I don’t have a ‘More Tag’ in the Post it seems to protect the content on most of the post(except the Comment Form section of the post). Back to this later.
More Tag used Content above tag is unprotected and content below tag is protected(except the Comment section.
More Tag not used Content is protected(except the Comment section).
This is also strange because I get a message saying the comment is protected however the comment form is visible. One last thing is the blog section where the post populate. The Title of the Post and Date is displayed and the content is protected. Should all content, title and date be protected?
Thanks,
~thomas
October 25, 2012 at 4:01 am #50651adminKeymasterCan you first try loading a fresh copy of the eMember plugin?

I think you got the understanding correct but it would be good to just have a look here:
October 26, 2012 at 4:34 am #50652webKidMemberThanks for the rapid response. I reviewed the “Not Working Common Mistakes post. I did a temporary fresh install of WP and eMember and everything seems to be working properly. So either the theme or a plugin was conflicting with eMembers, or just a bad install. Once I move the site I’ll do a fresh install of eMember. For now, its working fine.
thanks again,
~thomas
October 29, 2012 at 11:59 pm #50653webKidMemberHi Support,
In regards to issue with the MORE tag. I’m still having a problem with this. I did a fresh install of WP then installed WP eMember. I used Twenty Eleven theme, just to make sure my theme was not conflicting with eMember. All plugins have been deleted so all I’m running is WP eMember.
The More Tag will work properly if I set the “Enable More Tag Protection”. However if I de-select this option, it works properly on the Blog, no content shows except for the title and login info while on the Home page, aka the index loop. But if I select the article that is protected which goes to the Single.php like it should do, I see the content above the More Tag as if it was teaser content. I am expecting that all content should be hidden just like the Home page if my main settings are set to disable the More Tag.
The funny thing is if I do not use the More Tag everything works fine. I’d hate to tell my clients use the more tag for unprotected articles and NOT to use the more tag for protected articles.
Any guesses to this issue?
Thanks
~thomas
October 30, 2012 at 5:30 am #50654adminKeymasterYou maybe mixing up the purpose of “More Tag” protection with other things. Don’t use eMember’s more tag protection feature. Given your scenario, it will be better if you use eMember’s section protection feature to create “Teaser” content. This document will explain more on how to create teaser content with eMember (check method 2):
October 30, 2012 at 6:52 am #50655webKidMemberThanks for the teaser content info.
Lets see if I can explain more clearly. Enable more tag protection is deselected in the admin settings.
The posts protection have been set via the admin “Manage Content Protection” under the category section.
General Public does not have access to this post or I should say the public should not have access to this post since it falls under the protected category.
Scenario. My client uses the More Tag within the post to show only a few lines of the article when it’s on the blog page. They are not using it for teaser purposes, they are using it so the whole article is not posted on the blog page.
Now if the post does not have a More Tag. The post is protected as it should and the general public can only see the title of the post and the login message. No problems here.
However, if the client uses a More Tag on a protected post it creates the Teaser content and the login message. Why is it doing this if the More Tag Protection is de-selcted in the WP eMember admin section?
I am assuming if I have the Enable More Tag Protection de-selected that the More Tag functionality is disabled. And if I have the Enable More Protection selected that it enables the More Tag Teaser functionality.
Am I making sense??
Thanks,
~thomas
October 31, 2012 at 3:58 am #50656adminKeymasterOkay it definitely shouldn’t do that. Have you tried loading a fresh copy of the plugin?
