I originally set up my site to offer one year subscriptions, which the customers would receive the message that their account was expiring and a message to renew. I would like to change this to recurring annual subscriptions.
I am just unsure of what to do with existing members.
Would I create a new recurring subscription button for new members on a different membership level?
Would the old members stay on the original subscription level and continue to receive messages that their account will expire?
Would I then link the renewal to the new subscription button with a message that it will change to recurring?

1) Create a new membership level. The following post is a good read:
2) Create a recurring subscription button and hook it to this new level
3) Put this subscription button on your membership payment or join us page
4) New members will signup to this level
5) Old members will pay using this subscription button and from next year, they will be on the recurring payment option.

I was able to change my paypal buttons to recurring.
I still have three more questions. Will the eMember system still alert older members to renew their memberships?
When an older member renews to the recurring membership level, will the system also update their account with the new membership level number?
If a member cancels their Paypal recurring subscription, will eMember automatically receive this information and cancel, or make inactive, the member account on my site, or will I have to do this manually?
If this occurs automatically and the member cancels prior to the annual expiration date, will the account remain active until it expires?
