I’m using eMember/eStore with SimplePress.
I was trying to hide the SimplePress Forum by using the content protection pages of eMember.
But what happens is that I see the eMember message at the top of the page about the Content being protected but the forum still gets displayed.
Can you tell why this is happening.
PS: I had submitted the post before but it disappeared.
March 14, 2013 at 1:55 am #54406adminKeymasterSimple press has it’s own forum protection that it uses. You simply use eMember to create the forum users with correct roles (what simplepress expects). Read this post which has more explanation:

March 14, 2013 at 2:55 am #54407gmangeshMemberSo are you saying that even though I say the Forum WP page is protected and can only be used by a certain membership level, I will still see the forum page?
Because that is what happens. I protect the page to only certain membership level. Anyone viewing who has not logged in but just goes to the forum page sees a content protection message (You cannot view this page) but then sees content of the page which is the forum.
March 14, 2013 at 10:29 pm #54408adminKeymasterSimplepress adds the forum to a WordPress page slightly differently. It adds the forum below (outside) the page so you can’t do the same thing you do with your other WordPress pages. WordPress’s filter doesn’t get fired if you add content outside the main content area of a page. This is part of the reason why we don’t officially support simplepress. We support BBPress forum because it works better with the WordPress architecture.
This is how you can protect your SimplePress forum:
Option 1
1) Remove the standard protection from the page where you have your forum
2) Now, go to your simplepress admin dashboard and configure the forum protection according to the user roles. Anyone going to the forum/topic won’t be able to see the content unless they are logged in and have appropriate role. You use eMember to create users with the correct role (each membership level can be hooked to a particular WP User role).
Option 2
Alternatively, you can use eMember’s site wide protection (this protection doesn’t rely on particular filters) to apply protection to your simplepress forum page. You can use this feature to lockdown specific pages too. Here is the documentation for it (see the “Lockdown Specific Pages” section):
March 14, 2013 at 10:54 pm #54409gmangeshMemberOk Thanks for pointing out Option 2. Didn’t realize you could lock down page.
I have already done Option 1. Just wanted to know why the content protection was not working.
Thanks
March 21, 2013 at 3:52 am #54410gmangeshMemberHi
I stated using Option 2. So I have locked down specific pages and redirected it to another page.
However I have noticed that the redirect processing is very slow.
Is there a way to speed it up?
Thanks
March 21, 2013 at 11:40 pm #54411adminKeymasterThe redirect to a page is a standard PHP redirect. This is not something that eMember does out of the ordinary. If redirects are slow on your server (meaning the page is taking too long to load) then investigate the server’s config side of things.
