I tested the process by buying 1 product and I was added to the correct membership level. Now, I bought another membership level and I was not added. Nothing happened other than I got a receipt from PayPal.
How does the second membership level get added to the profile? (It was the same email address.)
December 4, 2012 at 5:03 am #52018adminKeymasterEach email address is associated with one eMember user account. If there is an existing user account with an email address then eMember won’t create new accounts anymore. It will simply apply the update/change to that existing user account. When your existing member pays for a membership, their account is upgraded to reflect the latest payment.
You can also allow your members to have multiple membership level. Check the following documentation to find out how to enable this feature:
December 4, 2012 at 2:29 pm #52019Bloom LifeMemberI had read that article and already had checked Enable Secondary Membership. I used the same email address and it didn’t add on the other membership level when I purchased it. So it wasn’t upgraded with the payment like you describe it should.
I had entered in the Reference Text for each corresponding Membership level into the eStore so it seems like it is not working like it should.
December 4, 2012 at 11:16 pm #52020PeterMemberSince you are processing the payments using eStore please enable debug as per this post:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/how-and-when-to-enable-debug-and-what-does-it-do
Then make another test purchase and share the output of the ipn_handle_debug.log and the subscription_handle_debug.log files. This will allow us to see what is going on.
December 6, 2012 at 3:41 am #52021Bloom LifeMemberI enabled the debug, purchased using the same email address and I got added to the autoresponder fine. Then I went to login and I didn’t have access to this second membership level. I checked in the Settings and only the first level was still checked off. So the email address was not upgraded automatically.

There is nothing in this file… ipn_handle_debug_eMember.log file
Does this help you figure out what’s not working?
December 6, 2012 at 11:57 pm #52022adminKeymasterPlease read Peter’s post from above and check the name of the two debug files that he requested (you are referring to the wrong file).
1) Did you enable debug in eStore as per Peter’s suggestion?
2) After the test purchase share the following two eStore debug files:
– ipn_handle_debug.log
– subscription_handle_debug.log
If the above two files are empty then go through this checklist to find out where you made a mistake:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/what-to-do-if-the-debug-file-is-empty

December 7, 2012 at 11:55 pm #52024adminKeymasterThank you. The debug is clearly missing calls to eMember user profile update.
Please load fresh copy of the eStore and eMember plugin then do this test run again and share the debug:

December 9, 2012 at 6:06 pm #52025Bloom LifeMemberDecember 9, 2012 at 6:12 pm #52026Bloom LifeMemberFor the subscription handle, we had one person buy and they were taken to the registration page but it said that it is for paid members only. So I set up a free registration for the time being. I had never gotten anything from eMember except for an email when I registered the very first time.
After reading other posts, it seems that they should receive a link to register after purchase but I am not sure why this isn’t happening.
December 10, 2012 at 2:25 am #52027adminKeymasterThe debug still looks incorrect. I sent you an email to get access to the site so I can check it out.
December 11, 2012 at 3:34 am #52028adminKeymasterTurned out the user was using two different WordPress installs in this domain. eStore was installed in one WordPress install and the eMember plugin was installed in a separate WordPress install. WordPress plugins from one install cannot work or do stuff on another WordPress install. If you intend to use the eStore and the eMember together then both of these plugins need to be installed on the same WordPress install.
