I am using the latest WP eMember (I also have WP eStore. When an individual selects the membership “Buy Now” button they are taken to PayPal. PayPal transact correctly and returns the user to the “Thank You” page. What does not happen is an email notification is not sent for them to complete the registration form.
Any help would be greatly appreciated

June 30, 2015 at 12:56 am #29699rm3kMemberHi,
I’m using JUST the eMember plugin and having issues where the new users are not being emailed when their payment goes through. Any guidance on this and how it should be set up through Paypal would be wonderful, I’ve watched all the documentation videos and tried multiple configurations, but still am not receiving any email notifications for new users.
Thanks
June 30, 2015 at 3:16 am #29700adminKeymasterHi, I don’t think the plugin is getting the PayPal IPN. So lets look at that first.
Is the plugin receiving the IPN notification from PayPal? Do you have IPN feature enabled in your PayPal account? The following video will show you how to enable IPN:
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=et8KFv0vYWM
Enable the debug option in the plugin then do a test transaction. The following post is helpful to understand what we are trying to do:
June 30, 2015 at 3:47 pm #29701rm3kMemberOkay, I’m running a payment with the debug enabled and will report back with the results.
I do believe I have activated IPN through Paypal already, but we will see for sure.
Thank you for the quick response!
June 30, 2015 at 4:03 pm #29702rm3kMemberHere are the debug file contents…it seems as though it should have sent an email notifying of an upgrade, but none was received…
[deleted other debug data after checking it]
[06/24/2015 5:06 PM] – SUCCESS :Member signup/upgrade completion email successfully sent
June 30, 2015 at 7:09 pm #29703rm3kMemberI continued to troubleshoot and went through the checklist on https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/not-receiving-emails-even-though-the-plugin-sent-the-email although nothing changed for me…I am still not receiving the email and it did not ever reach the spam folder either.
June 30, 2015 at 8:37 pm #29704wzpModeratorIf you use the Admin Functions, can you successfully send/receive a manually sent email, to one of the addresses in question?
June 30, 2015 at 10:36 pm #29705rm3kMemberYes, I tested that, and using the “Generate a Registration Completion Link” I was able to immediately send out and receive the registration email, and click the link to complete the process.
July 1, 2015 at 2:17 am #29706adminKeymasterThe plugin is definitely sending the email. Its just not arriving in the inbox because it is getting blocked somewhere along the path. The from email address value can play a big role in this (among other factors).
First do the following:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
Then go to the email settings menu and make sure you have filled out the “From Email Address” field. Make sure to following the guideline specified in checklist #1:
Then enable SMTP plugin on your site (checklist #3).
Do a test transaction after that to see if the email delivery situation is better.
July 2, 2015 at 12:44 am #29707rm3kMemberSo I’ve tried these methods you mentioned, and I am able to have people receive the registration email.
However, I am not able to receive the registration email to a gmail account yet…is this a problem that has happened before?
July 2, 2015 at 1:10 am #29708wzpModeratorIs the “From” email address, the same as the account, used to authenticate your SMTP access? Google may be rejecting your messages, based on that.
July 2, 2015 at 1:58 am #29709rm3kMemberAs of right now, I disabled the SMTP for testing, and will have to talk to my host tomorrow about verifying the SMTP details for the domain’s emailbox. Hopefully, having all of these accounts consistent will help, right?
July 2, 2015 at 2:04 am #29710wzpModeratorYeah. Google might be comparing the “From” email address domain against the domain of the sending (SMTP) server. If they don’t match, it gets rejected.
