Download Links Timing Out Immediately

I am using WP Estore on an older website, Version 7.4.1. The WordPress Version is 4.9.18.

I have just identified an odd problem, where when a digitial product has its’ encoded download link sent throught the Admin function, the first use of the link, done within a few minutes of sending the email, shows the following error:

The secure download manager ran into a problem that it couldn’t handle, and is unable to process your download request.

The problem was due to the following reason:
The download link (see browser address bar) has been used too many times. If you think this reason is in error, please contact the site administrator.

I have the settings set to the link being valid for 72 hours, and 3 downloads.

I don’t know where to begin troubleshooting, so I would appreciate any suggestions.

Please enable ALL debug logs. Then try again, and then check the logs.

Also, you really should download and install a more recent version of the plugin(s); but ONLY AFTER UPGRADING TO WordPress 5.x or higher.

The version of WordPresss that you are using is too old. It is no longer supported. You must upgrade WordPress first. After that things should start to work normally.
