Regarding discount codes and conditional applications of them, I have a few questions.
Does a customer have to know what the coupon code is for it to be applied?
For example, if I have a coupon code named discount that is applied after the client adds 3 or more things to the shopping cart, is this discount automatically applied because they have added 3 things to the cart or do they have to know the discount code discount and put it in the coupon code box and click apply before it will be applied?
I couldn’t find anything regarding the specifics of this in the documentation.
Thanks!
Scott
The customer have to know the discount code and apply it to get the discount (This is how generally most discounts work on any shopping cart).
You can tweak the code to make it so it automatically applies a discount if there are 3 or more products in the cart. To be able to tweak the code you will require PHP coding knowledge though.
Thanks!
Hi Amin,
I can’t believe that I overlooked this feature We have always offered a 10% discount for 5 or more items and a 30% discount if they order 10 or more items. The cart is great…the support is even better…I just completely overlooked that this was not a standard feature….completely my oversight and in no way a WP eStore short coming. Can you point me in the right direction to where/how would i do this in the code?
Thanks,
Jack
I have added an option in the coupons menu that should allow you to specify an auto discount condition.
Basically, you can specify a coupon to be applied automatically when the cart total or the item quantity is more than the specified amount.
I will send you an updated copy of the plugin so you can check it out and let me know how it goes.
Is this an upgrade everyone can get? I would really like to have this feature, too, but my Plugins page doesn’t say there’s an upgrade available.
Yes, this is something everyone will eventually get.
