I have created a website (www.home-exercise-rehab.com) with options for customers to either purchase a ‘download’ of a video or opt for a ‘pay per view’ version. (I had to do a bit of a ‘cheat’ to get the ‘Download’ & ‘PPV’ options into the ‘same’ box, WP-eStore doesn’t allow this yet – technically they are two boxes over lapping.) The download version has three variables (.mov/.flv/.mp4). Several customers have clicked the link in their ‘purchased download’ email and instead of downloading, it shows a one off ‘pay per view’ version?
I have verified that the settings are correct and the ‘download’ option is ticked in the Digital Content Details, but what I have noticed is that it only seems to happen when the customer selects a variable version it is not the initial version given in the Digital Product URL. [what I mean by this, to clarify, is that technically we are offering three different file options which all have there own specific URL, but in the Products > Digital Content Details > Digital Product URL box you can only enter one URL – I believe this is the correct way of doing this]
So if I have set this URL as the ‘myfileurl.mov’ but in the ‘Variations’ section offer MOV/FLV/MP4 options – if a customer selects to download the .mov version, the email and download link work fine but when they select to download the .flv version, the encrypted link opens a window and shows them a ‘pay per view’ version??? Even though the email actually says, click the ‘DOWNLOAD’ version.
Am I doing something wrong in my set up? Or if this just an error on the ‘link’ file within the purchase email.
Any idea or help would be much appreciated.
February 7, 2012 at 1:37 am #41698PeterMemberHi,
If I understand you correctly you’re trying to offer PPV and downloadable simultaneously. Is that right?
If so, this isn’t supported and you will have to create separate products as per admin’s advice in this post:
February 7, 2012 at 1:41 am #41699PeterMemberHi again,
I forgot to add that there’s nothing to stop you from creating buttons for each of the separate products with names which reflect the type of download such as:
“Download MOV File”
“Download FLV File”
etc
Just a suggestion….this might make it more seamless for your customers.
February 7, 2012 at 9:44 pm #41700WillisMemberI have set them up as different products, i.e. product ID 1 is the ‘Pay Par View’ option, then product ID 8 is the ‘Download’ option for the same video. I then placed them both (with other videos) on the same page and used CSS to push them close together, so they just look like they are from the same.
From my understanding that is ok to do – it doesn’t need to be on a separate page (am I understanding this correctly?). I which case the set-up is fine with that side of things. The issue is more relating to the downloading of the video files, there seems to be an issue with the ‘download’ option when people order anything other than the exact file detailed in the Digital Product URL box – i.e., if they order one of the other ‘variable’ options available.
February 8, 2012 at 4:18 am #41701adminKeymaster1. Which shortcode are you using to create the button that isn’t working?
2. What version of eStore are you using?
3. Please post a link to the page where you have this button.
February 9, 2012 at 12:41 am #41702WillisMemberThanks for your reply.
1. [wp_eStore_fancy9 id=8]
2. eStore Version v5.6.3 is showing in my PlugIn Menu as the activated version.
3. page http://www.home-exercise-rehab.com
It’s the ‘download’ button that is causing problems (it send a link which shows a PPV version of the video, even though the email clearly states it’s a ‘download’), but only when the customer selects one of the ‘variable’ (MOV/FLV/MP4) versions that are not the specific file version detailed in the Digital Product URL box (which I have entered only one URL to one file in (even though there are three variables available) – which I believe is the correct way of doing this.
If you need more info, just let me know.
February 9, 2012 at 4:51 am #41703adminKeymaster1. The display you have on the above mentioned page doesn’t seem to be using a standard eStore shortcode. How come you have two different “Add to Cart” buttons but one variation for them?
2. Load a fresh build of the plugin:

3. Please notify me here once you have done step 2 so I can go back and check that page again.
February 10, 2012 at 1:40 am #41704WillisMemberOK, I’ve done the fresh build (and although it said it would keep settings it has slightly thrown our the positioning of the two buttons – ‘Pay Per View’ & ‘Download’ – they were previously level). Anyway, the new build of estore is activated.
The short codes I have used are from the Extra Shortcodes list – including the recently updated version. The HTML code for my page is below for reference – then I did some adjustments to the CSS file to make the style suitable and the two ‘products’ look as if they are coming from the same box.
Let me know what you think may be causing this.
Regards,
Paul

</p>February 10, 2012 at 7:16 am #41705adminKeymasterThank you. I still can’t see how you are using fancy4 and fancy9 shortcodes on that page (I can’t see any trace of fancy4 display there). The variation box is suppose to be just above the “buy” button but it’s not there. I have sent you an email (the email you used to register in this forum) to get more details so I can check it out.
February 10, 2012 at 9:39 pm #41706WillisMemberI’ve filled in the form this morning – hopefully you’ve received that now. Look forward to hearing from you on this.
February 10, 2012 at 11:41 pm #41707adminKeymasterLooks like you you are using one “Buy” button with product 1 (for the download) and another one with product 8 (for the pay per view). Nothing wrong with that but just because you put them side by side and did some CSS tweak to make it look like it’s part of the same product doesn’t mean they share the same “Digital Variation”. You need to specify the digital variation for each product for the “buy” button to work correctly and link to the selected variation. When I check the “Digital Variation” field of product 1, I see nothing there which is why the plugin is not giving the content for the selected variation.
