Can you think of a way for WP eStore to handle a customer wanting to make a payment for an amount that could vary for each customer?
I am working on a website for a contractor who wants to accept credit card payments. Since I have already purchased WP eStore, I naturally want to incorporate it into this website. This contractor has customers who would make a down payment on a job or pay the balance on a job via credit card.
What I am trying to figure out is the easiest way for the customer to pay an amount that most likely would be very specific for each individual customer.
I guess what I am looking for is a way to accept a payment where the customer enters the amount they wish to pay.
I know this might be a stretch for what WP eStore was created for, but I thought maybe within the WP eStore functions, there might be something that could allow this to happen.
I appreciate any feedback you can give.
Thanks,
Rich H.

I am having trouble implementing your suggestion above. When I go to the tips and tricks page listed, it shows a check box for “Allow Customers to Specify a Price” which is suppose to be in the “Additional Product Details” section. I do not have this option in my version of WP eStore, which is Version v4.1.0.
Any further suggestions?
Thank you for your help!
January 18, 2011 at 1:23 am #27675IvyMemberHi, You are using an older version of the WP eStore. All you need to do is update your plugin. You can find more information about how to do this here:

January 21, 2011 at 1:47 pm #27676RichParticipantHi Ivy!
Updating to the latest version of WP eStore (Version v4.8.7), gave me access to “Allow Customers to Specify a Price” checkbox.
This option works great for allowing customer to make a non-standard payment, where the customer enters the amount they wish to pay.
In my case, setting up a payment method for a contractor who will have varying amounts due depending on what work was done is exactly what I needed to allow the contractor to take credit cards for all of his customers. He can even phone in the credit card information to his office while on a job, and the office staff can process the credit card through the website.
Thanks for the support!
