Hi, I’ve read that it’s not possible to change the affiliate username.
My problem: The affiliate username always appears in the affiliate URL:
How can I (or the affiliate) change the last part of the URL with ‘affiliate-username’?
November 9, 2014 at 7:08 pm #66658wzpModeratorYou can’t. The “last part of the URL with ‘affiliate-username'” is called the query string. That’s how the Affiliate Platform knows what value to set the affiliate ID cookie to.
You have three options:
- Tell the Affiliate Platform to use “auto redirect,” so that when the link is clicked; the landing page will quickly hide the query string, once the cookie has been set:
- If this is simply a case of an “inappropriate affiliate ID name,” the only way to fix the problem is to delete the affiliate account and create a new one:

- Your affiliates can use a plugin like the following on their site to cloak affiliate links:

How can I add a description in the sign up form please to warn applicants their Affiliate ID will display in the URL?
Thank you.

September 25, 2019 at 1:58 am #66661adminKeymasterYou can put a message on the welcome page of the affiliate area also (where you explain all the detail and rules of the affiliate program). You can customize the message that gets shown in the homepage of the affiliate area from the following settings field:
WP Affiliate -> Settings -> Index Page Message

Admin – i was thinking of changing it there, but it just doesn’t make sense to warn people of that whilst still trying to get them to sign up. And showing it in the affiliate welcome area isn’t really going to work since they can’t change their username after they sign up.
