This problem has been steadily getting worse over the course of several weeks. At first it was intermittent, but now I’m unable to login to WP Admin at all, unless I disable the eMember plugin. Obviously this makes it impossible to do any work on the member list, etc.
I’d already been into phpMyAdmin and checked all of the wp-user and wp-usermeta described in https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/emember-plugin-kills-my-wp-admin-login thread and sub-threads.
I’ve been scrupulous in tracking the culprit down by disabling and re-enabling each plugin independently, and the result is conclusive – the conflict is eMember itself. I’ve emptied the cache, rebooted, changed browsers and machines. No luck. When I disable the plugin, I am able to log in without problem.
Just to be clear – my user status is correct, the redirects were all working (even when this problem started to occur intermittently) and I am able to log in when the plugin has been disabled.
I really need help on this please because atm I’m unable to do urgent maintenance on my lists.
Many thanks…

November 5, 2014 at 2:48 am #66559adminKeymasterThis shouldn’t be happening purely from emember (I would know otherwise).
First, Please do the following:
https://support.tipsandtricks-hq.com/forums/topic/re-install-or-load-a-fresh-build-of-the-plugins
Are you using this option on your site?
Is this for when you log into the site via wp-login form or emember’s login form?
Are you using any emember addon? If you are then what happens when you turn those off?
November 5, 2014 at 5:36 am #66560ozfaderMemberThank you, I’ve reinstalled and I’m now able to login to the WP Dashboard, albeit in a roundabout way…
- Logging in as I used to via /wp/wp-admin still takes me straight to the logout redirection page.
- Logging in via /wp-login.php takes me to my landing page, but with the WP toolbar displayed. From there I can access the dashboard.
BTW, the only way I was able to log in before was through cPanel, by first removing eMember, logging in to WP Dashboard, and then restoring eMember to the plugins directory. By way of interest to anyone with a similar problem, I’ve answered your questions below…
Are you using this option on your site?
Yes, I had the first three options checked and last one unchecked. I’m using bbPress, but checked that when I started isolating other plugins.
Is this for when you log into the site via wp-login form or emember’s login form?
When I tried to login to WP Admin via wp-login.php.
Are you using any emember addon?
No.
As I’ve pointed out, the page to which it redirected on login was the same page I’ve set for redirection after logout. This seems to suggest it was immediately logging me out.
Thanks again. If you have any answers as to why I’m directed to my landing page rather than the admin page, please let me know. At least I can access now though.
November 6, 2014 at 1:25 am #66561adminKeymasterWhat values are you using in the following settings?
1) The after login page URL for the membership level
2) eMember settings -> Pages/Forms Settings -> After Login Page
November 6, 2014 at 2:19 am #66562ozfaderMemberWhat values are you using in the following settings?
1) The after login page URL for the membership level – None
2) eMember settings -> Pages/Forms Settings -> After Login Page – [http://forexistentialist.com/members-area/] (not the landing page)
Cheers…
November 7, 2014 at 1:12 am #66563adminKeymasterokay, that looks good to me. I can guarantee you 100% that the redirection you are seeing is not coming from emember. You have to have another plugin or another tweak somewhere that is doing it. Have you done the following test?
